OK back to the serious stuff then.

G. W. Bush has declared new goals for manned exploration to both the Moon and Mars. Is this the right time to do this? Is he right to do this? Should we do this?

...oh and let's not debate whether or not we've been to the Moon or this may end up being a flame war

Let's just send Bush to Mars, let him be the first one there, let him get all the fame and glory and then send him a message telling him it was a one way trip

I have proof that mars once had flowing water (and with that, life) on it!

Heh, created it using Terragen

Cheers,
Preston

I'm half expecting to see a Martian sitting in a row boat fishing

Hmmm, Terragen eh? I think I'll take a look at that.

Peston->

Nice looking picture . Keep in mind that Mars is actually very flat in many areas, though it looks bumpy from above, I doubt it'd that hilly anywhere. And there are the vast amounts of rocks. Red sand and rocks not too exciting...

I wish that Beagle 2 had landed right and then they could've had robot wars.

I wouldn't put it past that crazy inventor to have put a flipper to go and annoy the americans with, or a black piece of paper to hold infront of their camera.

'I wish that Beagle 2 had landed right and then they could've had robot wars.'

LOL

Wouldn't it be fun if some guy outside of the US landed his own private built rover on Mars, complete with a rigged in handgun, and blew the Spirit to kingdom come

The government couldn't sue either 'cuz its not on American property

True, but I bet a good lawyer could put up a darn good argument in court because it wasn't even on Earth so whose laws does it fall under?

I'm all for space travel, but the only reason I would have for going to the Moon is to say "I can see my house from here."

And as for going to Mars, well that's to view George W. Bush's ego from a safe distance
