Ok, I'm considering buying the following spec 'puter:

Intel P4 3.06 Ghz Cpu
Intel D875PBELK Motherboard (USB 2.00 x 8 PCI x 5)
Kingston 1024mb PC-3200 DDR400 Memory (512mb x 2)
Panasonic 1.44mb floppy
Seagate 80 gb 7200rpm SATA HDD
Samsung 42x IDE CD-Rw
Maxell 16x DVD-Rom
GeForce Fx5900 128mb GFX card (AGP 8x)
Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1
Intel Pro100+ mbps Network Controller
Mini Tower + Power Supply

No Keyb, mouse or Monitor as I have those already.

I'm being quoted a price which when translated from HKD to GBP equals GBP 618.00. Personally I think GBP 618.00 for that spec is a good deal. What do people think?

Looks incredibly good. Too good to be true

Here's the cheap-pc-checklist:

- does it have proper graphics, not built-in
- is a monitor included
- is a keyboard included
- does it have a decent amount of RAM (512+ nowadays, for hardcore use 1 gig)
- does it have a decnt amount of HDD space (200 gig should be adequate )

Seems your pc passes most of those. I can't beleive how cheap you got yours for, I bought mine for £2000 (which included tft monitor, all specs, speakers, xp pro, geforce 4 ti 4800, 1 gig ram, 200 gig HDD)

Yah... but I currently live in Hong Kong, land of super-cheap electronic toys. Here everything is at most 2/3rds of the price it would retail for the UK.

Slight typo above. The CD-Rw should be 52x.

Seems a good price. I take it the MB handles the full 8xAGP? A friend of mine bought one with a GF4 8xAGP, and the MB turned out to handle 4xAGP. Still worked, but not as good as it could have been.

Couldn't find the MB on the net (D875PBELK), so hopefully is brand new (ie. likely to be 8x), or you mistyped it.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

If you're buying the pc in hong kong and taking it to the UK:

Will the power supply work?

Warranty?

I live in HK. I'm a gweilo (white ghost) bear.

Philip

PS: HK's power supply is exactly same as the UK's. A relict of HK's colonial past.

Maybe you could do a deal on the floppy drive, drive the price down a bit. They're probably charging you about £2.50 for that baby, at least 20 pence over the going rate.

Outrageous. I shall re-negotiate the price directly.
