In my opinion... NO if for some reason they make another matrix or sell the right to soemone else they'll do like star wars and make episode 1 to 5 following the birth/life/death of each of the "ones" before neo. might get kinda repetitve since we already know thier fate, they all chose to rebuild zion...

or they might make an animation series on cartoon network or something, Lucas is planning on doing the same with his "clone wars", using the "samurai jack" animation team.

in my opinion, they should make an animation series, there is sooo much more cool stuff you could do in the matrix that wasn't seen in the movies that they should include in animated series if one was made. anyways, what's your opinion?

I think that nearly all films will be remade/reworked or added to in the future! There will be sequels/prequels to all the best films!

Oh yeah and don't forget the 'special' directors cut, limited edition, definitive collectors edition in a fancy box quickly followed by the Matrix Trilogy box-set, then the Matrix Trilogy box-set with 'free' bonus CD containing never seen before clips.

Boo!

You're forgetting the 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 year anniversery additions for each film, with an anniversery trilogy edition... each one will have a progessively more boring bit of never before seen useless trivia included.

'Yeah, who could predict "The Mask 2"? (WTF!?!?!)'

Looks awful

Hollywood has trouble grasping new ideas... not that many independant films are much better.

Not really. Even bad movies have had sequels.
(I'm not saying the matrix was a bad movie. That is
the topic for a whole other flame war....)

I don't think the second one was that bad really either, the third one was worse, it left me with many a question, but I liked the action bits.

Matrix was good. Second and third movies... not even worth renting, really, total waste of time and money. They kind of ruined the first for me too.

How many of you all thought at the end that Neo physically died but was reborn as a program living in the matrix. Remember how the AIs have a yellow glow to them? As Neo's body was being taken away, that yellow glow was there and I don't think it was coming from the machine AIs.

Plenty of room for a another sequel or TV series (live or animated.)

I doubt it. The philosophy behind the sequence was obvious enough. The glow was probaly him moving on to heaven or somesuch

I don't know why everyone says films are getting worse - they're not, some of the best films ever have come out in the last five years.

Films *are*, in my opinion, getting worse--- at least comedies, anyways. I mean, the Mask 2!? Of course it doesn't even have Jim Carrey in it. Dumb and Dumberer--- waste of time. I haven't seen a new comedy in a long time that is comparable to the quality of comedies from the 80's. Along Came Polly with Ben Stiller might be funny.

Does anyone else here think they show TOO MUCH in the movie previews? I absolutely HATE going to a comedy and knowing exactly almost every joke that comes up because I've seen it 20 billion times on the TV already :-|

And on the topic, I hope they don't make another Matrix movie. The Animatrix was pretty cool, though.

I liked all 3, everyone has questions but what movie doesnt leave questions? Anyway, I hope they dont make ANY more matrix films/shows. NONE. It would just ruin it. (You already see how many people have complained that they didnt just leave it at one movie.)

come on, they couldn't just leave it at "the matrix", it felt incomplete. maybe some people thought they should leave it there but a sequel was "inevitable".

haven't actually seen 3 by the way, but i've watched reloaded over 5 times and counting and i understand more and more the more i watch

It could have been left at the original. It would have been fine .... but then we wouldn't have had Reloaded which was great and Revolutions which was OK.

'come on, they couldn't just leave it at "the matrix", it felt incomplete. '

I disagree... it had a great ending... then they had to go and ruin it with two crap sequels

The ending for The Matrix didn't really fit with the sequels - Neo causes a SYSTEM FAILURE - this is never followed up. I don't believe that it was always planned as a trilogy.

It is followed up in that he can see and alter code. No, it wasn't planned as a trilogy, which is the main reason it didn't work well as one IMO.

The Wachoskis claim that they always planned it as a trilogy - but that's blatantly so people didn't write it off as comerical crap. Too late.

Reloaded was better than Matrix! It had a fight opera which I haven't seen before!

Heh, just my kind of post, one solely on the Matrix.

In my opinion, too many questions were left unanswered at the end of revolutions. In this respect, whether it be in the same style as the Animatrix or the film, a sequal should come along at some point, be this a good or bad thing.
However, from the philosophical point, Neo did his job, Zion is safe, so there is no need to create any more films (unless they're prequals).

If a prequal is made, (as I read on a matrix forum) there is no suggesting that the previous one's were human, just that they chose to save Zion. A director could use this view and throw a twist at an audience, and make some people happy (but make others even more angry).
What I find most irritating, although it had to be done because the person who played the Oracle died in real life (so I hear), is that peoples' faces or general appearance can be changed. This leads to both prequals (where new actors play roles, with just different faces), or sequals (where another war starts or something, and new actors play roles).

Hmm, just realised I'm rambling on..I could so easily carry on, but I wont. To me, I'm glad they made sequals, true they wernt as good as the original, but then, most movies arent. It's just sad that they screwed up the storyline (after leaving on one of the biggest cliffhangers in recent films - reloaded).
