okay i'll leave it simple:
Default DVD-Rom Drive not working

This PC: 933mhz, 2 CD (one cheap CD-RW, and one DVD-ROM)

I just put in a second 30gig hard drive, it worked fine for about 2 days. Today i installed Ghost Recon on the new hard drive, and my DVD-Rom disapears form the system memory...

Restart my Pc

Matisha DVD rom displayed in BIOS, but walla, it don't display in win 2000.

Shut Down

Made sure all cables plugged in, and all the normal PC checks

Reboot...

Displays in BIOS, and Win2000, but, Before any CD loads it Freezes..

as you can see this is quite angering, and any help would be appreciated... and i do mean appreciated (this is kinda my PC that i do alot of work on, and a few games, just enough so that in the middle of work, i can play a good ol' FPS)

have you tried smacking darwin across the face?

oh, um, try assigning your dvd-rom a different drive letter, or even your new HD.

if that doesn't work then try reinstalling your dvd-rom..

if that doesn't work, try uninstalling your IDE controllers in device manager and rebooting, letting windows reinstall them on startup...

if those don't work, send it to darwin with a pipe-bomb attached.

go boom

you may also have a defective ide cable, you might try swapping them round and seeing if the fault moves to the other channel.

and it matters what devices are on what ide channel when it comes to burners, cdroms, and hdds - check manufacturers details for your non hdd devices. I would put both HHD on primary ide, then on secondary have other two devices but see if the order matters...

<<has the most updated bios for my chip..

<<always puts HDD on IDE 0 and CDROM on IDE 1

<<IDE Cable works, that was the first thing I checked...

<<reinstalled the IDE controllers in windows... but didn't make much of a differnce as it dosen't work in POST, so it won't work in Windows..

<<Can send a pipe bomb to darwin if he attaches his Address....j/k
