Model is 1516 triangles big without weapons and 1864 triangles with them. you can use it for what ever you want. Just put a credit for me to your project.
Let me know if there is something wrong with model what I might owerlook. Of course I would be happy for any feetback ..good or bad one

some more screenes:

I looks like the string of the bow is going right through the model. maybe the arms are too short.

That would be because she's been posed incorrectly. The bow is being held on a slant when it should actually be straight and parallel to the face.

Arms should be OK, woman have slightly shorter arms than men normaly. That string problem I realized already but was too lazy to do something about. Also normaly I should alter bit hairs since they are the same on right and left side. Its due to modeling practise when I modeled only half and mirrored.

So you say that bow position is wrong? Hove should it be right then ...I should turn it to the left, right?

There are no limbs. It is all one object with no limbs to make it move.

so hove do you think I did those last poses ...where she wears bow incorectly apparently? ...they are just animation.

She have no limbs since she is done for bone not limb animation ...she can be animated by deforming mesh. But that you have to do yourself ...I offered model for free but dont expect me to do more ...you have to texture and animate it yourself if you need it.

If you dont know hove you can ask of course...

Rennekon>> it was done in Wings3D ...more I use it, more I like it

alpha numeric characters>> depend what program are you using. Basicly you have to build skelet from joints. There have to be one joint parrent to all other. Then place rest of joints in places where you want your model to deform.

When you are done with placing joints you have to asign wertices they should control to them.

Then you switch to animation mode and animate model by rotating or moving joints.

There are existing tutorials and help for every program so I
recomend you to look at them firsth.

What program are you using?

I use either jtedit or deled. In deled you can't add joints and stuff like that. In jtedit when i try to make joints either they mutate the character(i think it is because the vertixs are not aligned with the joint) or when i load the object i won't (a)appear (b)animate (c)come up textured.

I'm going to try that wings3d editor.

authors of JetEdit and DeleD are posting on this forum and they will help you gladly for sure with any question you might have. Just make new threat with your question or ask them directly.

Wings3D is pure modeler, you cant animate in. I dont know about any free programs which can make animations.

You can look at Milkshape or CharacterFX these are low cost modeler/aimator.

{Edit} I was just looking at CharacterFX and i saw that it suport weighted wertices attached to seweral bones. Its shareware so you can use it for 30 days and then you may decide to register for only 15$ ..i think its worth trying.

I think it's an excellent model, and I'm surprised that people are whingeing because you don't often get given excellent models for free.

CharacterFX is a great animation tool, and I know a few professional animators who own licenses for extremely expensive software that still like using Character FX for it's simplicity. It's an amazing tool for so little money.

Well can you explain how to mesh deform with wings3d or however? Also on your pics with elf archer, Her skirt thing is slanted at an abnormal angle. Is that some kinda of possible mistake to make with mesh deforimng?

thanks,
I would gladly give you her number, but unfortunately, elfs dont have phones ...they live deep in woods and avoids hitech machines

You can download model at my page when your comp is working again and explore her more deeply ...untill then, here are some screenes you wanted, hope it helps.

sybixsus>> thanks. I hope some peope will find her useful for their work.

I was working on her bit today and I finished UV maping so soon you can see her textured I hope.
I was also plaing with model in Character FX and its realy great animation utility ...weighted wertices make wonders

alpha numeric characters>> As I already sad, Wings is only modeler, its not animation capable. Those poses I did in Milkshape3D.
Yes I know about that problem with skirt and yes it a mistake. Some wertices were not attached to right joints. Its solved already.

At least you are doing a good job(obviously i suck at 3d graphics design). Can you explain to me about the ship thing and what inspired it and what is it to be for.

I held my bow at a slight angle, and I was top in my class for accuracy. Final day, I didn't miss the center once! It's just how I shot, and apparently it worked.

alpha numeric characters>> I like history and naval history especialy so I liked to play games of this topic. But most of them I was not satisfied with ...there was allways something missing, if I simplify most of today games is made for comercial succes rather than for people to play and enjoy ...which is suprasingly not the same thing. So you have full market of graphicaly nice but contens poor games. Sometime I have strange feeling that developers have serious doubs about our inteligence.
I dont, so thats why I was happy when I found DB and similar engines. I thought I can make something myself to be of my taste. That was preatty naive of course but I found out that to make game or some graphical project can be actualy more fun than to play it. So for some years I do things which will probably be of no use at the end, but that dont borther me anymore

That ship project should be pirate game ..we'll see if it will be so

Mr kid>> If you install Milkshape3D or Wings3D or both you dont gona make mistake and you will for sure not fill your computer with crap. Myself I have both installed on my hardisk and in my opinion these are great programs.

There are some diferences between them however. In Wings you mostly start with some primitive object like box or cilinder and then model it to more complex shape by subdividing and extruding. Thats wery similar to real sculpturing when you start with lump of clay. Wings is great and wery easy to use (once you know controls) modeler capable of modeling nearly anything you want including high polygoon models. Its texturing capabilities are bit limited on the other hand and it lacks animation capability at all.

Milkshape is not that great modeler in my eyes, since it have limited mesh editing functions and you normaly model face by face which is OK for some boxy shapes like machines or buildings but not organic models like humans. However it have decent (not great) unwraper and is animation capable. Its good all round tool having all you need to make low poly model, unwrap and animate it. Basicly, if you have Milkshape, you dont need nothing else to make game model (well you need something to paint your texture of course). Drawback is that while it is good in all its functions it dont excel in none of them.
Wings 3D is better modeler, LithUnwrap is better unwraper and Character FX is better animator. So if you get these three you dont need Milkshape anymore. And since firsth two are free you can have something for less than half of Milkshape cost which is much better.

That doesnt mean that you should not get Milkshape, If you are beginer modeler than I can recomend it to you ...at the end you need to learn only one program instead of three and its price is fairly low.

james1980>> thanks mate

Phaelax>> I was newer using real bow just one I did myself when I was wery small plaing indians so I am no expert in this. If pose I did is incorect please forgive it to me
