Very nice - the car movement is a bit too sensitive, but apart from that its good.

What did you use to design the track layout ?

Good news everybody! I really am THAT good...

Hi,

Thanks for the comments, I have posted this on real game tools but the site seems too be down so I have no idea on peoples comments.

Yer it's a bit sensitive and the collision kind of suckes but who knows in the future I might get time to come back to this and sort all them things out.

The tracks are designed in Lightwave 7.5, in fact all the models are done in Lightwave.

Hey that`s pretty good. Trial Mountain track, right? That must have taken ages to do. I think you need to work on the car physics a bit more. With a bit of tweaking this could be fantastic.

cool game, collision where a little dodgy and i could move withought pressing the upkey car texture was good, excellent level design, the tunnels, etc, movement took a while to get used to but i did at the end. Would love to see this evolve into a full game

it rotates too suddenly to the angle of the ground. can you use curveangle() to make it look smoother?

how long did this demo take for everyone to load?
i waited 5min's staring at a blank black screen ... i finally decided to give up.

Be nice if people added simple loading screens perhaps with an animation that lets us know if its actually doing something or just sitting there

Actually there is a loading screen and the program is written on a windows 2000 machine that I have no problems with.

It takes less than a min to load on it here and it's not a high spec pc PIII800, 512mb ram, ATI Radeon 7000 graphics card. It's going to take time to load though as there is quite a lot in there, do you all complain about the loading times on your Xbox and PS2? LOL

I do have DX8.1B installed does anyone know if this makes a difference ?

Rich

Kohai - sorry no tutorial as you can understand this is a pretty special bit of code although it's also very simple as you can see from the speed it runs.

I knew you would say that !!!

Well, maybe you could point us in the right direction then ?

First, how you constructed the track ? you did polygons by polygons, or used a spline to 'conform it' to your winding track ???

If you used a spline type, i can see how you got the height/width infos, with basic interpolation ...

So ?

Nope as I said above I build the track poly by poly as this give me exact control over how many polys are used and just how it looks. not a single spline in there.

god why am i not asleep yet...
oki well i;m running WinXP Corp SP2 w/DirectX8.1 and Detonator4 43.72 drivers

the game res screen pops up... i press a number and the screen just goes blank (not even the flicker of when you change res) and is like that for almost 10mins before i gave up again
the program doesn't crash - just doesn't show anything.

Here is just an idea when the screen goes blank try pressing y or n perhaps the text for the sky dome doesnt appear, might be a sync problem.

Give that a try and let me know ok

Rich - It worked! Pressing N on the blank screen works.

It was extremely good apart from the handling.

I was looking forward to seeing that intro you were making!

yeah pressing N worked a treat thanks
wonder why thats there hehee

ho well ... the car's not really been worked on alot since the last demo, much more open space to try out the actual physics which are pretty good.
Think the brake needs some work, feels like someone cut the cable
And the turning is a little touchy, perhaps really needs to be relative to the speed as the car kept turning 90° rather quick ... never span thou hehee which seemed odd, kinda like Screamer2.

Collision still needs a little work on the walls, whenever i hit them the car did that lagjump movement (anyone still using a 56k for HL,Q3 or alike will understand exactly what i mean )

And some portions near the forrest i've noticed you've taken away some polys you though were out of veiw, i'll see about taking some snaps in a min - but its near the end of the track at the sides. The angle is just shallow enough to make it out.

Be good to see some more detailed textures as it'd look outstanding with them being refined and less cartoon like.

On the whole a good job, and a shame you plan to put it on Hiatus for a while

DARK GT didnt work for me at first, however, when i pressed 'N' it did the trick! Its a great game although I dont like the way it sort of jumps when it hits the side of the track. But im sure you will figure it out.

Im very impressed!
Good Work!

Hey thanks for the comments guys, I dont know why the blank screen appears I assume it's a problem with a sync somewhere but I cant recreate it on any of my comps so cant test it.

Anyway thanks for the comments and Raven I think I know where you mean, bottom of the slope behand the fence right ?

hahaa... yeah (^_^) i mean isn't really greatly noticeable, i just have a habbit of looking throu games looking for graphical faults :")

still pretty sweet thou, i wonder about the blank screen - is it suppose to come up with "are you sure you want this res?" or something?
I mean if it does then i'd just take it out
Could always make a quick lil proggie where people choose the res and it writes a quick config file... i mean isn't greatly hard sure wouldn't take you more than 5-10mins

It's supposed to ask you if you want the sky dome or not for speed reasons thats why I think its a sync problem. I did it for time reasons as I didnt have the time to spend on the game.

Prob cause I am such a bad coder ( well thats what the masked coder says anyway ! ) anyways I am not getting into that I have sent a email to Mike and Richard letting my feelings on the subject be know so we will see what happens.
