Hey all its me again..I've given up on dark basic for awhile now cause I had been studying the manual for almost a whole year and no matter what I tried the codes I did were just messed up and I started hitting my head on the keyboard. Do you guys have any advice for me cause I am finding it really hard.

Artos, there is no substitute for sitting down and just trying things.

No amount of reading will ever be better than the actual effort of programming. So I would say stick at it.

But it may be that you are trying to write too complex a program first. You should try easy to code programs as they still teach you and it gives you a sense of achievement too.

If you really want to do a game, why not try a text only game design to begin with. Then when you have your little 3 area text adventure running, the next thing to do would be to add some simple graphics to it to brighten up the screen. Then maybe a nice title screen you have done in Paint Shop. Then maybe a simple animated end screen for you winning or losing.

Etc, etc, etc.

Start simple, and once it works bolt on to it enhancements.

Good luck with it all.

Ok Artos.... Tell you what.
I will help you right here on this thread ok?

Lets start with just what I said above, a simple small location text game and we will add to it as it goes on.

I could do this via email, but it is just as easy to do it here and it will not take pages and pages.

So, lets give this adventure a name.... We can call it whatever you want, but for now lets call it "The Cast Of The Missing Keys".

Story line next I think....

Story: One day you get up after a hard nights slob, and looking at the clock you realise that you only have about 1 hour to get ready and off to work, or your boss will be handing you your cards!.
After getting dressed and washed, you run out the door grabbing your car keys.....Well you WOULD have grabbed them, but they were not on the little stand next to the door where they should have been.

Your getting a bit frantic by now, as you have about 30 mins left. So....WHERE did you put them?"

Right, now that’s done, we need some locations.

The first location is of cause your house. Your house is a VERY small house, as it has a Bathroom, a Bedroom, a living room and kitchen.
We can also have the garden, and the obligatory Garage too.

Right... YOUR first task will be to post the code to initialise the program. You should set up a screen resolution, hide the mouse pointer, set the sync rate and finally clear the screen.

So.... Lets have a bit of fun and start.... I will wait on you to post , then we can go a bit further.
