it seems like the us version of coupling is really crap, but the original UK version is great!

Haven't seen the Office so I can't say much about it. But I must say that british tv-series are getting better and better. Spooks/MI-5 was much better than I expected.

I 'like' the office about half as much as I love every other classic British comedy. Still Game, Red Dwarf, Spaced, Little Britain, Fawlty Towers, Fast Show, Monty, Young Ones - there's dozens of better comedies, it's just that Brent and his followers are the flavour of the month. Pretty soon people will get sick of him, he is pretty tiresome when you re-watch an episode, and a lot of the humour is the cringe sort, which can put people off. Personally I like Tim and Gareth's characters a lot better, most of the best humour has come from those two. Did anyone see Gareth in Pirates of the Carribean? - He's pretty recognisable and I reckon he did a great job, would'nt be surprised if he ended up being more successful in the states than Ricky Gervais. From what I've seen of him, I reckon Ricky would be an insufferable little toe-rag.

I'm guessing that the Americanised 'Office' will suck.

I hate The Office! Sarcasm, and snide don't deserve to be credited in a good light. Same as Trainspotting portrayed drugs as exciting. Even South Park has pushed the barrier too far now. I'm fed up with the trend for bad behaviour to be funny.

I agree with Van mostly, but the Office in my opinion is one of the worst 'comedies' ive seen and I dont rate it. Go with Little Britain, Bo Selecta, Fast Show, etc All the greats and classics.

Currently thinking of a new company name

Oh, and anyone who has worked in an office should *love* the office. Magnificent. The real office block from the show is a couple of roads down from where I work (f**king Slough!!!!!!!!!!!!!). And yes, we were took over by another firm (similar) and had to merge with the Slough branch. We wern't from Swindon though. Too many similarities to mention.

The Office is pure genius. The US cannot and will not make anything that comes close, American comedy shows just aren't up to British class.

Yep, pretty much same here. Thought you got something like BBC-US or somesuch in america?

Slight lie there actually. We do get CNN (with British overlays here and there) amongst the mass of unwatched channels near the end somewhere (ie. mainly news/travel/shopping channels). Although QVC diamonique shows seem strangely compulsive....

Oh, slight change of subject. Anyone know when the official new Sky+ boxes are coming out? Can't be bothered with 40Gb of space when the 120Gb(+?) version is coming out soon. Itching to get it (TiVo/PSX efforts don't cut it when not fully integrated into the Satallite TV guide) soon. And damn that multiple channel recording at once sounds good...
