The latest version of Blaster kills it, so get downloading! - I've had to wipe it from 4 PC's today already (considering it was only released yesterday!), so it looks like a big one - and a lot of virus software won't detect it yet.

[Edit] - Basically delete any email with the subject 'Test' or 'Status'.

I got an email about two weeks ago or so named test. It had an exe attached...and I'm not sure if I got any virus or not...crap you're going to make me go into a paranoid state again...and my virus definitions are about a month out of date for norton...so, where can I find this Blaster (I'm guessing its some kind of virus scan software)?

Cheers,
Preston

Sorry Preston, it's not called Blaster, I was thinking of Stinger:

Nice and simple, free, and no massive downloads.

Cheers,
Preston

Slows down your internet connection and clogs up your email server, I think it's basically aimed at general company Win2k/NT networks.

I suppose I can live with that - Virii that destroy boot sectors or data are the worst, luckily virus writers have got more creative than in the late 80's when most viruses meant a reinstall of the OS or worse, a reformat. The coolest virus I ever had was one that turned your mouse pointer into a batman logo (on the ST) - the worst one wiped my C: and lost me 18 months worth of engineering drawings.

Ah, thank goodness, virus free. Thanks again for pointing out that virus scanner VanB, now I'm completely sure that I've got nothing on my computer that could prove hazardous.

Cheers,
Preston

I never got a virus. Only once. My mom was looking for Disney on Ice tickets and she type in www.disney-ice.com. (or something like that) then downloaded a "PREVIEW" of it. it was a trojan horse virus then we tracked the virus and site... they were both from Indonesia.

I think most people learn the hard way of what *not* to do if you're a net noob, i.e. if you're searching for Canucks tickets don't type www.canucks.com or if you want info on rollercoasters don't type www.rollercoasters.com. Odds are you'll hit a cybersquatter porn dude who hits you with 20,000 popup windows and gator plug-ins.

That's why I have my home-page set to google.ca
