I purchased Game Maker and have been trying to import my own 3d animated models in DirectX format with no success. I tried several 3d packages(Milkshape was the most recent), but when the models appear in Game Maker there is no animation. My programs only produce a single ".x" file but when I look in the Game Maker object folders I see various files like "model.dat" and "animation.dat". Does anyone know what these files are? The manual says to go the website for more help on importing 3D objects but I can't find any topics on the site. Thanks.

just a guess, but I bet T3DGM stores the animation in .dat files.
So, the only way you can do the same is to

1 - In MS3D
create 2 models.
Save one without animations and include the animation in the other

2 - Load the animated model into DBC or the demo will work too.

3 - Save animation to .dat

4 - now move the static .X and the .dat files over to T3DGM and see if it works.... Don't know what else to try if that fails....
