takes a really long time to load. try to do something other than flash, so that people with 56K can view it without having to wait 15 minutes.

*Just* 15 minutes? Those three words don't go together well for a website.

It loaded fine for me, but it's a very poor website.

1.) I got no information from your site what-so-ever.
2.) Sentences aren't structured(IE Explored 5, 1024,768 resolution)
3.) Would've been better if you asked for help rather than posting.
4.) For as little content as there is, there's no reason it should take that much time to load for people.
5.) Why use so much flash?

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

Now that I have Macromedia Flash Player 7 it takes me only about 5 seconds. With Flash Player 6 it took almost 2 minutes.

Loaded instantly for me. I guess I just have really fast cable. 2.7 MB down, 256k up.

Yeah, Flash is kind of a bad idea. Just go for simple and efficient.

256 down 128 up and it loaded instantly. I think it has more to do with ISP quality and location.

What they all mean to say is "why not just use some simple HTML?" You can pick HTML up in like, 2 minutes - seriously. It's a very gratifying language to learn and use, because it's so quick.

I've always thought an HTML-newbie's site is a little more respectable than a flash-newbie's site. I dunno, there seems to be some effort spent in learning something transferable, instead of scribbling crap out in a drawing pacakge

And before some prick comes along saying "HTML isn't really a language" I say, "stfu". If we're into pigeon-holing stuff, it could be considered a declarative language. Just because a programming system doesn't have a notion of variables or functions doesn't necessarily rule it out from being a language.

I guess I'm rambling so that I can get my forum fix for a week. going on holiday tomorrow you see....

It was loaded before IE could even finish allocating resources to display it on my desktop <-- 320kb/sec downstream here

Shockwave Template < Crappy All-Text Website with crappy colors

* note.. oh, and ontop of that, i was downloading the latest linux madnrake at 276kb/sec :p

HTML is not a programming language ^_^. It is, however, a very very good multimedia document format. I do, however think the WWW would be a bit quicker if HTML was compiled into bytecode... Think about how many KB are consumed by 30-byte tags that could be compiled into 6 bytes!
