What format is that? I've downloaded some models in that format but what is that? How can I open? How can I convert? :S I thought should be like MD2

Well, thanks in advance

The MDL format DB loads is the quake model format... there are many formats named MDL though, so I would ensure that it is the correct QUAKE mdl format, and not another one with the same name. I ran into that a few times...

lol ... i know of 3 forms of MDL
GameStudio MDL
Quake1 MDL
and Half-Life Compiled Model MDL

i'm pretty sure dbpro only uses HL MDL, could be wrong - but the demo has gone all funny on me so i can't check until the official copy arrives i suppose.

as for BSP... depending on the version depends on who made it and what its used for.

right now DBpro supports Quake2,HL,Quake3 BSP (versions 38-53 i think)

lastly Milkshape is at http://www.milkshape3d.com and is €20 (^_^) so not too much and is quite worth it.

Man, I've just downloaded Milkshape. For it's price, it's more than tough. I never saw so many export/import options and the soft loads in few seconds, diferently from Max, which is damn expensive, takes a long to open/render and needs plugin for everything. I will run some tuts... Looks like one more thing I am going to buy next month Thanks for tips.

I am pretty sure DBPro supports the Half Life MDL format.

To clarify .BSP, Half Life is based on the Quake engine (ONE or TWO, cant remember which. not Q3), so it uses a modified version of the Quake .BSP format. The term BSP itself refers to a general concept of Binary Space Partionining. All Quake and Half Life based games use the .BSP format, however usually slightly modified.

DBPro supports Quake 2, Quake 3 and Half Life .BSP maps, as well as its on version that you create with the compiler. I also thought it supported Castle Wolfenstien, but it doesn't seem to say that.

erm thanks Eprodigy ...
i'm pretty sure i cover'd all the versions hehee
BSP has barely changed between companies, and all have been given a version number to let you know who made it and what it supports.

if you check the second DWORD of data from a BSP file you'll get told which version it is.

RTCW,MOHAA,JK2, blah blah, are just slightly updated version of Quake3 BSP - and the actual mesh is no different at all. So you should be able to load without problems. Just like you can with all Half-Life maps

if someone could try out which MDL DBpro actually supports would be good hehee.

Oh and lastly Rouge really is well worth it, i'd download the SDK because if you make something for it - a plugin like an exporter|importer or such you get a free copy.
Oki €20 isn't much to anyone, but for me was actually more of a symbolic copy to know i've done a good job in something i'm pretty useless at

The Half-Life format is occasionally referred to as "BSP 3."
