Yeah, Amsterdam sounds great! Went there a few years ago and can recommend the nightlife! After a days stressful programming you can pop down the road for a relaxing 'massage'

Boo!

We could have the convention in a giant airship that circles the globe touching the lives of DB'ers everywhere.

Or a hotel, hotel is fine too.

Quote: "Don't hold the convention in the midle of nowhere like you did last year"

Chichester isn't in the middle of nowhere - its on the south cost of England, so its not in the middle...

Quote: "were almost impossible (or at least according to some wierdo in a travel office it was)"

Sounds like the wierdo has never heard of the place.

There is plenty of transport going here - trains, buses, coaches, private planes and commerical ones are a few miles away.

Anyway, to re-iterate my original reply to those who never read it : I wont be doing one this year as there is supposed to be an official one at some point in the future. No idea when, as Rich hasn't sorted anything out yet

Actually, please do have it somewhere foreign. my mum wants me to proove i'm upto travelling on my own. i'm 16 ffs, wanna be a pilot, of course planes dont scare me, and whenever we get lost in an airport etc its always me thats like "i told you we should of gone this way". Also the fact that as a sagitarius, i love travelling and meeting other cultures.

Languages I speak: English, French (fluent) and a bit of german and spanish. so dudes, hav it in a country where one of those lnguages is spoken and i'll be ok, i can even do the talking for you lot.

There's a German convention every year, and it's probably busier than the British one - anyone who wants to do a little travelling should go there, Lee often goes to the German conventions.

There was a US convention a couple of years ago, GuyS organised it and if memory serves it all went quite well.

The problem is that about half the people who say they'd go don't. It needs to be central Britain, not north, west, or south London, not central England, some people actually live on the flabby bits of land surrounding England.

Heh, if you have it in Amsterdam I can do the talking too :-P. Anywhere were you can get a cheap plane ticket to (i.e. not miles away from an airport) would be fine with me.

(BTW, aimed at any TGC member, I wouldnt wanna make TCA angry )

I would be unstoppable if I could just get started...

Wooooah slow down folks.

Central Britain / Central England is irrespective.

Central to the UK DarkBASIC "USER BASE" would probably be M11 corridor judging by the DB maps that appear on the forums from time to time. Shove it up in Birmingham if you want, that just meens we ALL have to travel a long way.

Also if I remember the last discussion about location Chichester got chosen because TCA was organising it and he lives there! There is nothing wrong with that at all, if you want one on your doorstep too you know what to do . The most popular location from the thread if I recall (The one that had most people in agreement) was in the area of Stansted... Again, M11 corridor.

Why would such an obscure area be popular amongst DB users? It is the second largest "techno" area in Britain, M4 being the real techno-capital but I guess the real brainy folks on the M4 corridor use C++ or something!

Personally I am happy to go to Birmingham, Scotland, hell you could put it on the Shetland Islands and I wouldn't mind. I live pretty much centrally, can drive, can afford petrol every now and then, and want to bask in your adulation of me !

I'm still gutted I missed the last convention ... I got the week wrong!

i said i was gonna go last time, the reason i didnt was the fact it was on a weekend with school on either side of it, and all the travelling, i'd preffer it to b abroad then lands end, cos that way i would be able to get a day of school to get rest from travelling etc. but im sure i could say the same for everyone

Yeah I know, but to save up for the convention I spent about 3 weeks offline working really hard long hours so I missed all the adverts, I logged back on the weekend before "MY" convention to find I had missed it...

That's the doctored version of the truth anyway, and all that I am prepared to say... !

Somewhere on the M4 corridor would be a good idea. I'm guessing that more people live south than north of it, but most people should be able to get there.

Anyhoo, I suggest we all pester Rich, Rick or both to get something sorted ASAP.

Aside from being able to plan my holidays in advance, everyone will then be happy - and that is something we should all strive for...

Oh dear - sound like Brittas then...

If it's held in Brum I won't go, I'm prepared to travel, but I'm not travelling almost 300 miles.
