Yeah, its a hoax. If anything were to send you a message from AIM, it would be the stupid bot that tells you if you've logged onto your name twice on the same computer.

Cheers,
Preston

HOAX Hoax HOax HOAx etc..........

AOL or ANYBODY who has the need will NEVER ask you for your password like that, you should be on a secure connection if you need to be using your password, (padlock icon in the bottom right) unless you want it logged and recorded on the server archives for everybody to read.

first of all why use aim?

if you do make sure it has the option to disable ims from anyone not on your friends list.

I've never heard of anyone ever needing to know their customers' (or whatever you call them) passwords.

Its a hoax. Read the AIM licence agreement. It says something like no staff or something like that will ask for your password. And anyways they should send you an email and give you a lot of information about whats wrong before asking for your password... and don't they already know it.. its in their database.

Any legitimate request of this type will ask you to connect to their website and login that way.

Anything that provides you with a link is to use is to be suspected. I had an email from my Bank (supposedly) that used a CGI link on the banks website to direct everything offsite.

Yup, I believe there's a form on the Website so you can report SN's. I'm not sure what they'll do though, hopefully they will ban the IP but it being AOL and all, they'll probably just ban the SN.

I was just messing with ya.

Besides, if he joined it'd be pretty easy for the mods to get his i.p, and then ban him.

i read that aol does not give ip addresses, or they do, but it's a really weird system that makes it very difficult to ban individual computers. i remember on deviantart they were having a lot of problems with certain users, and a lot of them were using aol, so they couldn't ban the individual ip's, so they had to just ban anyone using aol as their isp. it's weird.

oh, wow. insignificantpunks.cjb.net. we like orange treble clef notes, just for future reference.

no: website for progs yet.
