Hi
I have a level built in 3dsmax and exported to a directx (.x file). I am using .x sliding collision code which eats up my frame rate. what i would like to do is to convert my 3dsmax (or directx) level into a BSP level to allow the DBP engine to deal with my collison for me. I have tried using the converter which comes with DBP but it doesn't ever work! and Valve hammer/ other BSP tools seem a bit complex for me (give me Max anyday!)

I understand that BSP uses trees to evaluate wether a point in 3d-space is solid or not but Is there an easy way to convert a Max/X/any other format file to BSP. Is there a way to import directly from max to Valve Hammer and then export to BSP?

Can someone Help Please?

There is an export tool for 3dsMax (he has one for Gmax too)called GLB (Game Level Builder)...it exports to .map format which can then be imported into Worldcraft,GTKRadiant,WED,etc. and compiled into a .bsp.

I've used it in Gmax and its very good (don't have 3dsMax so your on your own there).

You'll find it under "Max-Scripts" at this site
