While searching for a tutorial on modelling the human body, I came across this very nice tutorial http://www.okita.com/tutorials/maya02.html for modelling low poly humans. Unfortunately the tutorial is aimed at Maya users and so I'm having difficulty trying to comprehend it. Does anyone know of a similar tutorial which employs the same technique or maybe someone would be kind enough to make a MAX version of this tutorial?
Thanks

looks nice!!! but the problem is i haven't got maya, i do have milkshape and it's a good program with a simple interface. Maybe you can start with having a look at milkshape 3d.

Does anyone know what the equivalent MAX tool for the 'average vertices' tool in Maya? What this does, as far as I can gather from the tutorial is to smooth the object by smoothing out the vertices.

i havent used max in a year but some modifier does it.
average vertices is nothing special it not needed in low poly just scale.

max command ------ maya command
snap vertices ---- merge vertex
extrude ---- extrude(by edge or face)
weld ---- merge edge,merge vertex
combine ---- combine
smooth ---- mesh smooth
cut(if i remember)---- Split Polygon Tool

alot of the stuff that person did was not needed
hope the above helps.
