Hey, I'm reeally new to DBC so I can't manage to get collisions doing what I want in this game I"m making.

I've made myself up a nice maze in wings, saved it and converted it to .x, loaded it in game, got my dude walking aorund in it, and straight through its walls...

I put collision type to polygon, then the absolute opposite happened, he couldn't walk so long as he was within the boundaries of the entire .x file.

Could someone tell me please how I can have collision only respond to the walls I've made in the file?

I'm using DBC by the way, and I've already looked all through the inbuilt tuts..

Thanks.

Call me Dean.

Take a look at our collision system. It's designed exactly for that.

And our website is at: http://www.nuclearglory.com

You can download the DBC package from the bottom of the page and test-drive it yourself.

Cool, thanks.
So I suppose if theres a program designed to do it then it's no walk-in-the-park eh?

lol, that's an understatement. From what I've encountered, it verges on one of the most complicated parts of 3D games. The real trouble comes when you need a system that is both fast and accurate.

Hey Someone,
I use ng's dll and .x objects for my levels as well....including terrains. Instead of using matrices I found Robin King's Total Terrain, found a heightmap reader, and used that. NG's dll works perfect for this type of stuff just in case you're interested.
