Info:
Here is the updated version of my puzzle game The Pusher. It got animations, sounds, textures etc and 3 maps you can play through. They are pretty easy, they are ment to be the first 3 maps in the final version.

Instructions:
Use the arrow keys to move around and push boxes. Return resets the map and ESC quits the game.

You must pick up card keys to get past the locks, there are 5 card colors and they must match the locks. You can cary max 4 cards and they are stored from left to right. You can only use the card you picked up last.

Arrows can only be entered from behind but you can exit them in any direction. Boxes can be pushed into open spaces or into a hole so you can get past. The goal on each level is to reach the circular hole.

Nice!

My only comment is that keycards spin too fast and player has no facial features.

Other than that the game is great!

Thanks Spooky

It's hard adjusting the rotation speed of the cards to fit everyone. And to make things worse, they will spin faster if you have a faster computer.

I'm not sure if I will leave the character like that or if I will add eyes. I'll see about that later.

I just played it on my stationary computer and woohaa that was pretty fast. Guess I should adjust the speed a little or use syncs

yeah
really cool
I've finished the 3 levels given in your demo

if you add background music and better sound samples ( the current ones crackles on my computer ), your game can become a really cool game
I also recommend you to create different world ( to add more to ambient in the game )

Good game , waitin' for more levels to complete

Thanks

Well, this isn't made to be a serious game just something I made for fun. And it's also more fun coding then working on the art. So basicly what you see (and hear) is what you get but I will work on the code more as well as make more maps.

An updated version with 8 maps is comming soon

Beta 2

Now with 8 levels!

The game is now synced so it won't run too fast on modern systems. I have also included a synced clock that will run slower on slower systems. The left clock shows total and the right clock shows the current for the level you're on. When you reach the goal the total clock will update and the game won't continue until you press any key. The levels are also drawn up cause that looks so cool.

Please tell me what you think of the levels and if I should change the order etc.

And do tell me what times you get. I haven't played through the whole game yet myself. Stress do effect memory and thinking on the more complex levels

I have now played through the whole game and this is the time I got. It's not a perfect time. Seems like the clock is ticking at double speed though so I'll have to change that, kinda weird though. And I need to add a level counter later

You have a very warped brain to think up these puzzles!

Time to finish all 8 levels = 149:39 but as you say, that time is about double what I actually took. I downloaded game at 11:09 pm and finsished it exactly one hour later. Hang about - I've just wasted an hour of my life playing your game when should be writing my own!!

Only comment is that level 7 was a right bitch! In my opinion level 7 & 8 should be swapped.

Somehow they just grow into these really messed up ones. I have always thought the same about others and now I'm doing it myself The hardest one to make was actually level 4 that should be something between easy and hard.

I start without any ideas and place out the start then I think of something and then how to make it harder and block the player in all ways but one and before I know it I have made a level I'm happy with

It makes me happy that you waisted time on my game

Yeah, those where the 2 levels I had most problem sorting. Since I know the solution it's hard for me to do.

Beta 3

This is probably the last beta before the full version. Sorry, no new maps this time. I'll try making at least 20 before I release the full version.

Since many asociated "The Pusher" with drougs I have decided to change the name to "Box Pusher" instead.
The level clock now resets when you start a new level.
The current level number is now displayed.
Level 03 has been a little modified. You should be able to clear it about 1 sec faster.
Level 07 has been modified to prevent "cheating".
Level 06 and 07 have been swapped.
Level size is reduced from 2700 bytes to 234 bytes

Here's a shot of my personal record. It's not a perfect time I did a few restarts among other things. I think you can make it under 13 minutes if you're really good

Just to let you know you have messed up big-time in beta3 in that you can walk on the wall round the outside of the level! Makes finishing levels rather easy!

Wow, that's something I wouldn't even test. What a big miss Thanks for spotting it.

Kinda weird that I played through the whole 8 levels and never discovered it

Sorry not interested. I wanna keep this as low as possible in download size. I should probably convert the objects to .dbo and compile without the .x dll to get it even smaler. Ask me again if/when I make a better version

eh ! if you want I can make .Mid or .Mod music that take less memory than .Ogg or .mp3
You can also make music as separate file that can be downloaded and installed in drawer where game is installed . So, if game detect the files, it uses them

For your information I have programmed 3 games and a muisc player and I've been using DB for almost 3 years. So don't you think I would know something like that already?

I'm not looking for any help on Box Pusher. But if you got some music I can listen too it and if you're good you could help me out on some other project. I have lost contact with the composer who helped me before.
