So I run the "Lots of Fast 3D" demo to benchmark my old GeForce 2 card, and I get 80 - 100 FPS

I put in my new GeForce 5200FX card...and get 30 FPS from the same tech demo!

Run a game (Downtown Run) - runs like a dog!

So what is going on!

Drivers? I found that with my FX 5200 card until I upgraded my drivers on Nvidia's website my card was a tad slow as well.

And make sure the anti-aliasing, anisothropic and image settings are set to off, off and faster performance respectively.

... and don't start sentences with the word "so". Only New Yorkers do that.

I've got the latest drivers, I've reinstalled everything from scratch, and I still get horrendous performance.

NTVDM.exe also plays up when I reboot now.

Aaaaahhhhhh!

So Sorry about the "so"

Anyone know what Vertical Sync does?

I wouldn't bother messing with vertical sync. It updates graphics when the raster is at the top of the screen. If you turn it off, graphics can be half drawn on the screen, and the screen can flicker.

Sounds like either the drivers are corrupt or you've got hardware problems.

I've finally got it performing as well as the old card which will do for now...I'm upgrading the mobo and processor in a few weeks.

For some reason it will only run at 2x AGP, although the Mobo supports 4x. I've removed the Gainward software that tries to monitor the board in real-time, that only seems to slow things down.

And now I can play with Pixel and Vertex shaders More frustration on the horizon

I sense another flame war comming on. Who´s going to defend Nvidia? Where´s Raven when you need him?

It's OK MIR, we all know that Ge3ri is a troll, and not a very good one at that.

I've been around here long enough to know whose opinion to respect, and whose to completely ignore.
