Since there isn't a "general DarkBASIC" forum, I decided to post this here. Where does everyone here publish/post their games?

Dunno. Most of us (I think) publish our games on our own.

On the Garage Games site, I only see about 20 games. Is that it? I guess it's not very popular. About publishing games on your own, first of all, personal sites like that rarely get any traffic, and second of all, you don't make any money off of that, do you?

They only pick good games that are published.

Hmm...are they popular? According to traffic reports, they are really low in traffic.

Garage games is one of the best known freelance/indie game companies around. They'll only choose games up to par, that are complete, fun, and acceptable for most audiences.

Garage Games is great because they will sell you their Tribes engine for only $100US. As far as I know, the games they publish are based on that engine only.

I, too, was wondering where to stick my games. I have made a few quality free games and I want the world to see them I know posting them here in the announcements forum is nice, but to be honest it doesn't reach as far an audience as, say, Download.com would.

That being said, I used to use Download.com for distribution until they started charging money. I would pay if my games had a pricetag, but they're freeware.

Anyone know any good freeware sites to place games other than Tucows or small indie sites like the TGC forums?

Thanks

Nope, Garage games will publish anything that's good enough, not just games using their Tribes engine. Infact 3D Mahjong was made in DBpro.

Yup, in fact, Aerial Antics which was recently added to the collection was made in Blitz3D.

Well, 2 ways I think of right away.

1.) Show your game to a big-time publisher, and they'll get it in the stores.

2.) Box it, and send it around manually to retailers that'll accept it.

Bottom-line:
Chances of getting a darkbasic out in a store aren't too good, unless it's truly amazing. (0 games that I know of being sold in stores)

Its not "their Tribes engine". Its a SDK that Tribes was made off of. And the TORQUE GAME ENGINE (that's what its called) is super powerful and worth $100.
