When surfing on the net, everyone finds random things that can prove
amusing. A stupid flash, a sign saying "Free Cat" right beside some
unrecognisable roadkill...

Whenever someone stumbles apon one of these, the urge comes to share
it at there favourite forums. In our case, it's here. Then the poor
surfer get yelled at 'cause that wasn't something new he found.

But, concidering that new people keep joining these forums all the
time, old stuff becomes new stuff, and it's still funny.
For example, I'd never seen the "ninja ping-pong" flash before, but
when it was posted, someone said "this is old", and the thread got
locked. Despite the fact that quite a few people hadn't seen it.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone here has never been to
www.badgerbadgerbadger.com

So, I'm making this thread so we can post our favourite/stupid/random stuff from the past. New things are also welcome.

Here's my contribution. I don't know if it's been here before...
BOFH text series
This is REALLY old, but I don't know who's managed to find it or not.

Here's something we see alot of, but it's not usually this interesting:

I think people slate those who post old "funny things" because they've got nothing better to do. Those of us who have lives simply ignore those posts if we've seen it before.

well, of all the flash movies, pics and jokes posted here, you couldn't have seen them all. I didn't do this because I've "nothing better to do", but simply for the fun of it. Isn't that why many of us are programming in the first place? A laugh is good every once in a while, especially now that this forum has been a bit hostile lately.

My point was, there's no need to slate funny posts. If you've seen them before, just ignore them.

The Pingpong flash can be found here:
http://www.flatface.net/~bugeyes/junk
There are some other nice flash movies there. The "Don't Smoke" one is very well made, and funny. Icon Wars is good too.

Only if its relevant.

Quote: "Then the poor

And its been posted a 100 times before.

Depends on what you mean by funny. Funny as in 'HA HA HA HA', or as in 'hhmmmmm yes, that was slightly interesting...'

Quote: "Despite the fact that quite a few people hadn't seen it"

Which a quick search would have found the other posts of it.

I think there is slightly too much junk here, even for a General Discussion forum...

how do you think someone would have found the pingpong thread using the
quick search? He would have to search for that specifically. It's like
if you were to log in one day and think, "Hmm... I feel like watching
something funny. And it has to be about.... ducks. I'll just write
'duck' in the searchbox!".
Actually, I've NEVER found something in the search. I've tried
many times, even when I knew the topic I'd get nothing.

Funny: Anything that is more fun than yelling at spamming forum members.

Well I'm sure you're not going to die if you never see the Matrix/Ninja Ping-Pong thing in your life. In fact, I'm sure you'd sleep quite well not knowing such a thing ever existed and hence having no urge to find it.

Hypothetically, if you were in the mood to watch something funny about ducks or whatever you may, there's always google and not to mention Newgrounds and Albinoblacksheep usually satisfy the majority of people. Typing the terms "funny flash movie" or even just "funny animation" into a search engine is bound to find you results.

I just posted 2 sites with plenty of humorous entertainment. I'd hardly call it fighting though, more of discussing in an orderly fashion, I'm yet to see one insult or personal comment thrown yet. If I may though, you were the one to ask how someone would find the ping pong movie and I was simply offering a solution that satisfies all parties.

Quite simple, search for Ping, Pong or even Ping Pong. Comes up with quite a few posts...

That doesn't make sense. How would you know that Ping Pong was funny, or interesting without knowing about the video? Someone would have to make a post about it first, and they may as well put the link in their post. If these things are posted a lot, it is because people haven't seen them. I was on the site for about a year before I posted Badgers Badgers, and then people said it was old. But once a year is not too often for a post.

Pincho.

Thats why you search first to find the video, which you then watch. During the viewing process you decide whether the film is funny or not.

well, i see everyone enjoyed Windoes RG I did too
but did anyone actually take the time to watch the demented cartoon movie? like i did...

EDIT:
o jeez, i watched all of the flash things, and one stands out to be very freaky, not funny, freaky.... very.. er.. freaky... May be innapropriate for some viewers. (might as well skip the first 2 things, the 3rd is.... err... odd..)
http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/subliminal.php
Now.... for some reason, the last part of this always scares me, no matter how much i watch it, i'm freaked out by the last part... Again, may be innapropriat for some viewers.....
