hi all,
just thought i would leave you with some handy latin phrases just incase you might need them and for them to dwell around in your brain.

Thank you, thank you! My 7 year old son's homework is to find Latin phrases! Being the comedian of the class, he will put a banana in his ear and recite that last phrase!

something promounce like this:

shi-towah-dingding-matt (sp) apparently means "i spit on ur mothers camel" and is a big insult in arabian countries.

con: i was told this by a gullable kid, who tried to convince me to believe what kids say on the playground more than what i hear on the news :S ie, he nagged at me saying a kid told him we had already started bombing iraq, when infact not a single aircraft carier had been moved and the invasion was still being planned.

any way back to the point; a more valid reason why i dont believe him is that im confinced Camel is "Jamal" in arabic, and i dont hear that word in that saying. likewise for "mother" is "Oma"

i kno some arabic speaking people browse these forums, can u rectify this, and also if u actually live in arabia/saharah, can u tell us if this is really offensive?

and arabic and german are part of the same language family so i wouldn't be surprised if oma did mean "mother" in arabic. same basic idea.

froog - sorry to hear about your cold, broken, moustachioed potato.

"le volley" apparently means "volleyball" in french. and to ask to go to the bathroom in german, you say "darf ich bitte auf die toilette gehen?" sorry that's all i got
