Is that surprising? I think not. Of course monkeys can program.

They've been busy rewriting the entire collected works of William Shakespeare for so long. I'm surprised they haven't diversified their operations until now.

-----
They SAID that given enough time a million monkeys with typewriters could recreate the collected works of William Shakespeare... Internet sure proved them wrong.

Suddenly some of the cryptic "Oook! ook! OOOK!" comments in the leaked Windows source code make sense...

They're actually Apes, not Monkeys. Didn't you learn anything from Planet of the Apes?

Apes don't have tails. Only monkeys do. That's how you tell the difference.

You know what else is a useful fact: There's an edit button below your posts! It helps prevent posting twice in a row.

Btw, don't take offense at that, I'm just noting it's presence to you as you may not already know.

That website is blatantly a prank. I know plenty of monkeys and, frankly, they can't code for toffee. Thats why monkeys and bears are not generally known for getting on well together. They are envious of us.

Indeed - if monkeys cant recreate Shakespeare, then they certainly wont be able to code - maybe they used to work for Melbourne House.

Someone should advise those monkeys to take a look at the Shakespeare Programming Language, so they can kill two birds with one stone.
Interestingly enough, monkeys seem to have a predilection to the letter "s" on keyboards.

That may be so, but they sure as hell messed up The Hobbit & the Shelock Holmes adventure game... Actually I was going to insult Linux programmers, but I thought better of it - after all, Linux does just about work.

Quote: "Shakespeare Programming Language"

Try writing a game with that. At least you could give it to someone for a play and earn money that way.

Mmm, my laptop's been "just about" working for 294 days non-stop without a crash under linux... On my main machine I haven't booted in to Windows in months, and then it was only to compile a cross-platform program I'm working on. So I'm perfectly happy with this "just about" working operating system .

Must be one of the lucky few people who are... I've had nothing but trouble with it - crashes and not recognising hardware, and unfortunately drivers not being availiable doesn't help.

No, I used to use Suse.
I use the Koppix (or whatever its called) to see how far Linux is progressing. At the moment, it cant detect nVidia network cards and doesn't like the nVidia sound system either, so Linux is current of no use.

Knoppix doesn't support nVidia stuff, since they have concerns over the license issues with the nVidia drivers. Try MEPIS. http://www.mepis.org.
Though it's better to use a PCI ethernet card, built in network chips make use of a lot of software processing and are specifically designed to work with Windows. So while they'll work under Linux you'll experience a speed hit.

Unfortunately Mepis isn't free... I dont really want to pay for something that may or may not work - which is the problem with Linux at the moment.

It's not amazingly obvious if you don't look around the site a fair bit, but it is available free: http://www.mepis.org/book/view/1462.
You may want to wait about a month or so if you really want to see something flashy, since the next release will be using the 2.6 kernel and KDE 3.2.

p.s.
The machine I'm running has an nForce2 board, with integrated network and sound. Though I switched over to using a £5 PCI card, and gained a significant increase in performance when performing network tasks.

I might put in a new card at some point in the future - have no plans yet as the networking system is running well at the moment.

don't be silly they're only monkeys, they've got 1000's more years of evolution before they become properly human, they'll all be extinct in 50yrs anyways...

In the beginning, the universe was created...
This made alot of people very angry and it has been widely regarded as a bad idea...
