I know this is in the wrong forum but i find that when i make my 2d games not many people comment on them and i rekon its because theres alot of good looking 3d games out their. So i wanted to post this to the 2d forum since we're all about 2d here so maybe it will help Though feel free to block/delete if its not allowed.

Anyway i created a simple to learn, but with complex strategy. You can play 2 players on the same computer or against the computer. The computer is mostly random at the moment but i'm working on the AI as we speak.

You can get the file here:

http://www.baskers.dbspot.com/ThinkAhead.zip

The basic rules are as follows:

Objective:

The object of the game is to get 2 of your counters into the Zone. The counters must be actually inthe zone and not beyond it. In the case that both players have 2 pieces in the zone, play continues until only 1 person has 2 in the zone.

Rules:

1) You cant place the same card in the same row
2) You cant place the same card in the same column

Gameplay:

Each player places their cards face down in a row. The cards are then turned over and the player who placed the highest card in the column moves his token forward 1 space. In the case of a draw, no counter is moved forward. If the opponents counter is directly infront of you when you are trying to advance, instead of moving forward you push his piece back 1 space.

Trapping:

One way to move your opponents piece all the way to the start is to trap it. To do this you must use your 2 card (also known as the trap card) and at the end of all counters movement, the piece that advanced due to you using a 2, if it is surrounded on 2 sides by one of your pieces, that piece is trapped and moves all the way back to the start.

Comments are really appretiated.....

It sounds complicated, perhaps that's why you don't get many responses. I haven't got a clue what you do, but if it's Human v's computer, I shall give it a go.

Yes the game is good. You need to speed it up a lot though. The keystrokes take ages to respond. They should be instant.

i have a pretty fast comp so thats probably why that part of the code is inefficient.....i'll look into that now.

The Res is 1024 * 768....i always code in that res unfortunatly....maybe one day i'll make it able to change

I've working on the AI as we speak, got alot done today so its getting smarter.

Its actually a pretty simple game but you gotta think ahead to beat your opponent. Maybe i just cant explain it well enough
