Something has been bugging me, and I think it might be because I'm old, intolerant and generally a crank.

It seems many of the posts in the "Programming" forums can be classified as follows:

1) The mahoosive question.
These are characterised by the "Can somebody write a fps for me please" type questions.
Rather than learning to program the poster wants the complete source for a game.

2) My bad.
These are characterised by "I've written this code and it's not a FPS and look there are already 200 lines, there is a bug in dark basic! I want my money back!"
followed by:
"oh, my bad, there's a stupid error on line 6"

3) I don't know what I want, but what is the answer?
These are characterised by "I want something sort of maybe like, you know, that thing, where it......."
No real question....

4) Interesting.....?
Finally a properly formed question about programming.

Maybe the forums should be subdivided for:
Newbie Programming Questions
Newbie IDE/Dark Basic Questions
Algorythm Questions
Advanced Games/Dark Basic Topics (BSP etc)
and the the moderators could keep each area on topic?

I'm rambling now, none of the above is really what I think, just a sharp/unfair charicature of my opinion in order to promote discussion....

Better idea to use all that brain power on the more importent things in life, instead of Forum "sociology"...like T.V!

He's right, although he's new, so how does he know all this?

just cause he's new to this forum doesn't mean he's new to forums in general.

believe me dude - this happens everywhere, and there is really no way around it, as there will always be n00bs who ask dumb questions. tho i think the really stupid questions (i.e. "write me a game") should be removed. thankfully they usually are.

OK, i was a bit conservative with my release date. predicted DBP P6 release date: Bjork 45, 3418

just cuz he just signed up to these forums doesn't mean he's never been at these forums, or even if he was with a different account
