I just read this portion of the newsletter and nearly fell out of my chair! What's the deal with this? Has anyone tried this out? What is it? How long has this been available in WIP forum? Is Empty the author? Can you explain sir Empty?

The DLL in the newsletter has been available for about a week. Yes, empty is the author.

Exeat's method has been around for ages too

I've tried it out. It works

Indeed it's been out for a week (Doesn't anybody read the WIP board anymore ). It's still beta 1 and haven't had much time to work on it yet, or convert it to a proper TPC. So it's a bit difficult to use... but that'll change soon(ish).

Oh by the way CattleRustler, do you remember when I asked for VB DLLs? That was the reason...

oh, ok. So I take it that this solution still needs the end user to play with C++, right?

Nah, no additional tools are required.
You just need to use DB's good old CALL DLL command/function. Also automatic parameter count, parameter type and return type detection isn't in yet. But you don't need anything else then VB, DB, and this library.

Maybe you just test it? That'll help to squeeze out potential bugs also.

empty, works a charm! I tried out the demo stuff you included.
I have yet to try it out with one of my dll's. Hopefully by tomr.

Yup, I was a little upset to see it wasn't mentioned in the newsletter. Just because it isn't packaged in a nice little Plugin like Empty's doesn't mean it's not useful to other people. For instance, people that want to make a C++ DLL and use functions from a VB DLL inside it would definately prefer mine instead as it allows you to use both languages for the one plugin. Oh well.
