I was getting a headache making particles for my Streets of Rage 4 game. So instead of reaching for the paracetamol, I made this - particle studio.

It manipulates the particle variable on screen, in real time, allowing you to get a particle affect that you want and then it will output the source code to a file so you can copy and paste it.

It can also rotate the particles (drag the emission sphere) and position them in 3d.

Let me know what you think of the idea, and what you would like to see added to this editor.

The plan is to make it a free tool to developers, so the more suggestions the better

Here's the screenshot:

DEMO! DEMO! DEMO!
I haven't really used particles before because it takes a while to set them up looking right, this could be what i'm looking for...

In the beginning, the universe was created...
This made alot of people very angry and it has been widely regarded as a bad idea...

Can you add some code to make it export into sequenced BMPs like ExGen? That would allow the DBC users to be able to use the "simpler" effects that can be applied onto ghosted plains, and it would reduce polycount a lot.

That would mean saving the screen to an image in succession to create multiple bitmaps.

Hmm easier said than done. I'd have to hide all the tools etc and particles do tend to go off the screen, plus I've not seen a decent screendump function yet. I was thinking of making a home-made particle system compatible with DBC and DBP, but the main use of this program was to get my head round DBP's particle system so that would kind of defeat the object.
With regards to a demo - gimme a few hours. I still need to add a few things. I wanna add something called the 'AndyLife' variable that stops the particles running after a set number of seconds (or cycles). So you could make a really cool explostion effect. And there's the toggle buttons....

P.S. Anyone know how to change the bloody title of this post from 'praticle'? makes me sound like a dumbass

Oh my god I just lost most of the darn thing! Damn buggy save thing. From now on I’m using BlueIDE!!
Well this screenshot shows the new toggle buttons on the right. It demonstrates a few things like particle ghosting. I need to shift the bits on the right down so it doesn’t look so stupid.
Next thing will be to add a variable for 'Andy Life' and 'Ghosting Type', oh and the export, but wont be long now.
