Yesterday, somebody registered on my site, asking for help with DB and 3D Game Maker. He seemed a nice fellow, but obviously a newcomer. Anyway, I helped him out with his problems and today I come home and read his reply. And he asks for a friggin crack!

I've noticed a lot of these types of posts. If I email Lee or someone, there is probably not much they can do right?

Here is the link to the thread on my site: http://www.rpgcyco.net/index.php?topic=1110.0

If it's your site, then surely you can deal with them as you wish?

Yeah, but there should be something else to stop these kind of people. Ie. Possibly a legal fine, it's sort of 'attempted thievery'.

There's nothing you can do over the Internet except to try and convince them to behave more legally.

The irony of these type of posts is almost unbearable.

I can understand people using dodgy copies of 3DS-Max, because it is beyond the budget of practically everyone here - but there's no excuse for cracking DB. I get annoyed when people wont pay such a small amount for something like DB, Milkshape is a real victim of piracy too. Basically companies like Microsoft and discreet have no problem bumping their prices up to counter-act losses through piracy, TGC should'nt have to.

Not much you can do about it though, aside from making sure all activation systems are performed over the internet and making it as hard as possible to decompile the code.

@Van-B

I have to disagree because GMAX is fairly close to 3DS Max, and it's free. So there's no real reason to pirate it.

Once I get into college(or find a friend in college ), I'll then buy 3DS Max 6 for cheap.

I wish college prices were a lot cheaper. I went into the my college store and Photoshop was there for almost $600! THere's really no point in having student discounts if the price is still up there like that

@yellow
Gmax is entirely useless for db.
Db still has huge problems with mdl md2 and md3 files, and there are only two converters. One to mdl, which would be fine exept even deep exploration buggers up the animation, which is the only reason why you would use it over virtually every other modeller out there,and a beta 3ds converter which i cant get to work.

Yes, I understand GMax is useless to us DB users. The only way to really get support for it would be to e-mail Discreet and sign up for there developer thing.

Gmax is good for mods, but like you said, that doesn't help us.
