I tried both,
load music "new.mp3",1
play music 1

I then tried to convert the file to a wav file and it still didn't work. With music it caused an error when running and with sound nothing happened!

Question is,what DB...DBC or DBP.

I heard some people having problems loading them but it was solved in v113

It's important to have an adequate codec installed on your system. Can you play mp3s with the media player?

Ogres have layers.

if its a commercial game theres a large licence to use mp3s.

you may need a later update if u havent already of DB.

I plan to use the OGG format since there isnt a huge royalty licence if u plan to sell the game.

use ogg
http://www.goldwave.com/calogg00.zip

CALOGG00 DLL
2002/09/03 170k zip This download adds Ogg Vorbis 1.0 support to GoldWave. (and to other apps that use it)
Vorbis is a patent-free audio encoding standard. It compresses audio just as much as MP3, often with better quality. GoldWave Inc. strongly recommends this format over other proprietary formats such as MP3, WMA, and RA. To install, unzip the calogg00.zip file into the C:\Windows\System (or C:\WinNT\System32 or equivalent) folder.

I thought that DB was using the internal components of the media player therefore overpassing any licenses...Or is DBPro natively supporting them, which would actually be regression...MAybe not for performances but the wallet though...ouch!2500$US for one title, that hurts!

What about .WAV? Any royalties?

No royalties for .wav - but their big. You could record them onto the CD for perfect reproduction without clogging up the processor and memory with a 40mb wave file.

I'm working on an alternative to all our music options, which should provide some added benefits besides just getting music in your game. More details in a few days...
