Ok, my friend downloaded a great plugin for his MSN messenger - MSN Messenger handwriting - which allows you to draw and send pictures in regular msn windows. So I asked him for the site and he gave it to me www.mess.be.

I started downloading the componets for the hadwriting, and installed them.

Since then all I can do is log into MSN messenger and do everything but send instant messages! I've tried removing all of the related software and reinstalled MSN messenger about 6 times - none of it seems to work.

So what I really need to know is:

Is there another MSN-like program that allows you to IM hotmail/msn users?

Please this is urgent!!

try trillian: http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/; not sure about emailing people, but i use it, and it lets you IM poeple that use MSN.

Ok, moving on slightly...How can I fix my MSN messenger? There appears to be nothing wrong with it other than when I go to send an instant message it says 'Cannot start conversation with <person> try again later' except doing so does nothing but give the same message...!

There's also Miranda (http://www.miranda-im.com) which is what I personally use. It's a lot like Trillian but considerably simplified so you only have the one list of buddies and what-not.
