May I present Dark Fighter. It´s a 2d beat´em up based on Street Fighter (hence the name). It features 6 characters and 6 levels. This game may be finished this weekend or next weekend depending on how much time I have. Opinions are welcome but don´t be too harsh as this is my first game.

P.S. It´s 2 player only as I couldn´t get the A.I to work. I asked for help in the newbie section but nobody helped.

looks very good aswell, nice 2d drawrings

hope the game plays as good as it looks

Looks interesting. Certainly not my style of art, but then, I'm rather picky about that.

Remember, the most important things in a fighting game are control and game balance. The player has to be able to control his avatar easily, intuitivly; the control scheme should sink in in under a minute for an expirienced game player. And if the fighters aren't balanced, the whole game falls apart!

Edit-- By the way, for your first game, it looks great. Don't worry about the AI-- it's always one of the hardest things, and very understandable that it's not implemented (yet ?).

That looks excellent for a first game judging by the screenshots.

I'd be interested in playing a demo once released to see how the chracter animation is and the general gameplay is.

I'll watch this post for when the project is complete.

Of the girl you mean? You bet your ass! Don´t worry, there´s more where that came from.
Mouse: The characters are very well balanced. I´ve still got a bit of fiddling around with some statistics but it´s almost done. The three that you can see in the pics are finished but the other three need a bit of work.
MikeS: I´m not going to release a demo as it´s near completion.

With regards to A.I I can´t do it as some part of the code is modifing the animation frame when the a.i player walks. Thuss making him blink and act wierd.

what kind of an excuse for no ai is that?

if you writ your code out nicely, you can easily add ai, but making it good ai is a bit harder

Nice - a Streetfighter style beat-em-up - nice graphics too - well drawn

AI in a fighting game - now that is a challenge - I see a gauntlet on the floor before you MIR..

Ok. Fine. I´ll do A.I. It´ll be delayed until next week as I´m going to re-write the walking code. It´ll take me hours but I´ll do it. Are you lot happy now?

Ok.. Time to put my foot in it...

I know of at least 1 other DARK -fighter game... about 3 months ago I saw a 3D fighting game..

Is this the latest incarnation ?

Anybody been on here a long time and know exactly how many games called D-fighter there have been?

Nope, this Dark Fighter hasn´t got anything to do with any Dark Fighters that have come before it. I only know of one other fighting game and that was called Zar. I know there have been other 2D fightiing games but I couldn´t find any trace of them.

EDIT: I´ve had a look at the other Dark Fighter game you talked about. Luckily that game is called Darkfighter and mine is called Dark Fighter(notice the space?) so there isn´t any conflicts between the two.

looks real nice, I cant se how well the animations go from that though?

are all the guys beefed on steroids and all the girls were hardly no clothes?

it would be cool to have a drunken fighter thrown in

Haven´t got any drunken fighters in this game. We have got a loony with a hockey mask and chainsaws for arms but no drunkards. Mabye in the sequel.

You sould tone down on the sex stuff. All the nakedness makes the girl look, well, ugly. Maybe a dress that's longer. the one that's too small makes her look stupid(no offence) when she's doing that Chung-Li thing. P.S. maybe check out some pictures of chung-li. But, that's just my opinion.

Good news everybody. I´ve fixed a bug I had in the code and now the A.I works. The problem was caused by the A.I character trying to punch or kick his oponent whilst walking therefore interfering with the animation.
Don´t worry about sex stuff. She´s the only kincky character in the game. When your fighting her just close your eyes or something.

I could tell it was done in paint. It's really good, it looks like DBZ style drawing; the eyes and muscles you know?

I´m not going to make a demo as the things nesasary for a demo (A.I, a menu that connects to the game, the round counter) are the only that need finishing. Well that and putting in all the characters, but that only requires a bit of name changing.
RPG_Freak:Yeah you´re right. It´s hard to make a 2d fighter without getting influenced by Dragon Ball Z.

its excellent well done! As far as the 'sex stuff' goes I see it not as sexual but adding some comedy value to the game, suits the style well, you should be proud!
Looking forward to this one, hope it plays as well as it looks

Firstly. Thank you for your positive feed back.
I´ve finaly finished the A.I character. He can do everything a human can do except crouch punch and crouch kick which aren´t very useful anyway. I´m now adding a 2 round system and then I´ll connect the battle code to the menu code.

I think that the kinky animations add something a bit original to the game. I mean, all games need something new, and that's new on these forums anyway. If those graphics, and animations are made in paint then somebody has a lot of talent.

Right. Due to some problems I´m having with my pc I haven´t been able to work on this game. Hopefully the pc will be fixed on Friday and I´ll be able to continue. I´ll have some screenshots up during the weekend sometime showing other characters to make up for the wait.

EDIT: Right. My pcs are working now so I´ll be able to continue work this weekend. All the images are now finished now so the only thing left is connecting all the code together and final bug testing.
