Hey,

Doubt anyone will remember this name, but I just randomly thought about Dark Basic, and i haven't been here in a year'ish. Who's still here, who's dissapeared?

indi? Asheron? catadventurer/flamingamoeba? LeLurch?

If Indi's still around, is he still making that dwarf game thing?

Is DarkLand still in production and planning on being published?

Did Oh BallZ have a sequel?

Is Rare Earth still being made?

Is there still a stupid DB/BB war thingy going on?

Is DB Pro as good as it was talked up to be?

Have I asked too many questions?

Bye now.

Hi Eliterit, I remember your name, but it's been ages since I saw you on a forum.

*indi? Asheron? catadventurer/flamingamoeba? LeLurch?
- Indi is a moderator here, and Asheron is a moderator at RGT forum (official American forum).

*If Indi's still around, is he still making that dwarf game thing?
- Yep, Dwarven Tail is well underway, I'm sure he'll post a link to it's website for you.

*Is DarkLand still in production and planning on being published?
- Don't think so .

*Did Oh BallZ have a sequel?
- Don't think so.
*Is Rare Earth still being made?
- Don't think so.

*Is there still a stupid DB/BB war thingy going on?
- Not really, there's a little friendly rivalry brewing between here and the RGT forum.

*Is DB Pro as good as it was talked up to be?
- It's young, and it's being patched very regularily, some people dislike it, but I for one love it, I've never seen anything go at 450fps on my system before!

*Have I asked too many questions?
- Yeah, you've depressed us all by bringing up those cool games that never got finished.

LeLurch is webmaster of www.darkbasic.de
and Darkland won't be developed any further in DB ... next year I'll see if it'll be developed further ...
(there's a very very small chance ...)

Me still here

I'm insulted that you've forgotten me
Welcome back

"indi? Asheron? catadventurer/flamingamoeba? LeLurch? "
indi is a mod here, Asheron is a mod on RGT and rarely posts here, catadventurer/flamingamoeba has either left, or is on RGT, or has a new name.

"If Indi's still around, is he still making that dwarf game thing? "
Yes, but he hasn't shown us anything, so I'm guessing it's in limbo right now...

"Is DarkLand still in production and planning on being published?"
No

"Did Oh BallZ have a sequel? "
No

"Is Rare Earth still being made? "
No

"Is there still a stupid DB/BB war thingy going on? "
Occasionally something stirs up, but not really. Now there is a civil war between Apollo and RGT, but I think that's been sorted out...

"Is DB Pro as good as it was talked up to be? "
And better in most regards. But you know DBS, and therefore understand that some of what they said was cut out, some of what they said doesn't work right, and the whole thing is a mess of bugs. But it's bearable, and the patch comeing out at the end of the month should fix all that

One thing to note though, the .X -> BSP convertor doesn't work at all...

"Have I asked too many questions? "
Of course, as Van-B said... depressing all those games going to waste. Really though, Rare earth was all graphics... but they were great graphics

"Bye now."
Leaving already?

Rare Earth IS still being made!! In Blitz Basic 3D though.

The Yellow Jester does not play but gently pulls the strings
And smiles as the puppets dance in the court of the Crimson King.

Nah! Rare Earth isn't being made
See point is Yarble is that ... we know where it went but if its no longer in DarkBasic then really its a bit of a dead project.
There is no news here and not likely to be any "Oh and heres the demo" kinda posts.
Kinda a pitty, dunno so many just stopped or decided to move projects away.

Raven Vegeta- I take it from your post that you haven`t seen Rare Earth. It was a great game, and if it`s still in Dev, I`m glad. No matter what language it`s in!

I don't care what language it being developed in, but the authour could have had the decency like Mofux did when he jumped to C++ to keep us all updated.
There has been no mention of it in over a year, so we can consider the project dead if we're no longer consider'd to be a worthy audience for news!

Sorry but recently alot of people have just up'd sticks and gone to Blitz, and taken alot of good titles with them and I for one kinda feel shafted that they don't care enough to actually let us know what the hell is going on

If I go out tommorrow and make an outstanding title in C++ that I started in DB, say DarkArena and not tell anyone the next thing you know its on the shop shelves of something you gotta admit you'd feel piss'd off about it too no?

I remember both titan and AM.
And no... they had a legitimate reason for switching to BB3D. BB3D was and still is MANY times better than DB. If it's better than DBP is a debateable issue, and I'd rather not get into it. Another thing you may not know Raven, was that DB was facing a VERY tough time. The newest patch (at the time) had been released, but lacked multiplayer commmands. These multiplayer commands came in another version of the patch, which you had to buy as part of DarkMATTER. A VERY bad decision if you ask me! Anyway, the whole forum was in an uproar, then the wars started, Rick Vanner was flamed a lot, I'd say the equivelent of being shot to hell, and of course the ones who felt really let down started to side with BB3D. I mean, theres only so far you can go with DB, and it really hadn't improved at all the whole time. So, the most discoraged folk left, meaning a lot of the real old oldbies.

Then, Sept 11. That brought about a change in some members. IE- TVJ. One of the best DB coders there was, great guy. But when sept 11 came along, the guy was laughing histerically, celebrating etc. It was sickening to watch a grown man that I respected for so long just... deteriorate. Anyway, I think he's on BB now...

DBDN was almost a fiasco as well. And still isn't totally accepted, even by me. We never saw much of lee bamber to begin with, and now that DBDN is here, we never see him. Now I may be entirely wrong about this, but that's how it appears to an outsider.

It was a series of unfortunate events really. A lot ofgood people left, and even I have been very disenchanted with DBP. The point is, most of them had reasons to leave, and they don't have to update us on their projects, many of them left very angry at DBS, which I don't blame them for. So why would they now come back and show us what they've done? other than to laugh at us anyway. It just isn't that we aren't considered worthy.

And a project isn't dead because you don't know about it, so I don't know were you got that from.

I spend most of my time reading RGT
