I've been looking at a few different tile editors/mappers for use with Dark Basic Pro. Tile Studio seems to be far better than most, and *WAY* more polished. It has many cool features, for example, it will allow you to extract tiles from an image. Check it out:

http://tilestudio.sourceforge.net/

However, there seems to have only been mention of this software once in the forums! The program allows you to customize the output (called definition files), so it can be used with any game development environment. Unfortunetly, it does not come with a definition file for DB or DBP, only Blitz Basic.

Has anyone ever used it for a DB/DBP game before? If so, will you please post your code or what you did to make it work?

Thanks!

That is a nice tile editor. It saves out the data when you press F10, and it could be made to work in DBPro, the Data is standard in all Basic languages. However, it's confusing for me to get it working in DBPro other than just drawing the map without all of those nice collision codes. I just found it confusing. I'm sure that there are people on here who could get it to output DBPro code.

Hmmm... I'll email the author, maybe, just maybe, he or she has somthing already or could crank some out code.

I just started using DB but perhaps someone more experienced would like to take a stab at it? It sure would seem like a great benefit to the whole 2D DB community! Plus, it may be a good thing if lots of people start using one particular 2D map editor.

I asked the author of Tile Studio about it and he said he does not know DB. Maybe someone from the Tile Studio forum at Source Forge can help: https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=159337

Pincho, if you ever work on it, I'd love to see your code for loading the tiles with DBPro.
