This is like a modified ford focus.
Came out to 710 polys:
car=498; side view mirrors=76; wheels=136
please keep in mind that the wheels are untextured

I am not really in a texture mood right no so i am just modelling a bunch of things that i can use in my city project. but i would like to get a couple of skins for every car i make. I looked at your website, Your screen shots look good. What other types of cars are you going to place in your game?

I'm don't know yet if i use real cars or fantasy (manga-like) cars. I want to add weaponary and stuff (rockets etc.). The design and characters scream for fantasy cars though.

I am/was a 2D artist (graphic designer for profession) and if you have a good UVW map (is it called this way?) i can make a nice texture for example? I don't have lightwave or anything, i use Milkshape.

So, you're the one from the city project. I like it, should make more game of it

lol, i will see what i can do. i didnt want it to be so many polys but the fenders alone 196 since a big part of them needed to be double sided. you are pretty good at sketching, if you want make a simple sketch of a side view and top view of a car and i will try to model it for you.

Tnx, i'll let you know. I'm working for ages on this project now and i don't want to rush things. I want it to be good! First i must get me a scanner. I almost finished the car selection now. It looks just like the mock screenshot i posted on my site.

Here's a freelander. 725 polys total; Truck 549, Tires 176
does it look like the vehicles are too choppy? i am trying to keep the poly count down but i want to know if they look nice enough

I think they look great, but if you double the polys they are still usably in games i think. Those models are great for 'traffic' and use higher poly for player/enemy models.

May I ask what 3D program you use to make these WBarrett?

Nice work.

Great thanks, i think i will add more detail in the bumpers and add door handlesand other details to make it more realistic.

I use lightwave for all my modeling. I have tried several programs and it is simply the best for modeling and animation. It does however take a while to learn, and cost a a little more: $400 with student discount.

Is there any interest in a car model pack.
Say with 24 cars. 12 cars in both a 700-1000 poly and a 1500-2000 poly version.

Or how many cars would you expect?
What is a decent price, $25?

thanks for any input

fantastic models!

I think many people would be interested in a car pack, but most people aren't very interested in paying much for models. you will probably get a much better response by making it really cheap.

either way, really nice looking work!!

i think a car pack would be a good idea but you would have to make it more like $10-$15 so you would get more customers(spelling?) if you sell 4 at $25 you get $100...if you sell 50 at $10 you get $500

$25? for those car models? sounds fair. If you wanted a decent number of sales you should texture them. then you can charge more too.

$25 is fair but i don't think he would get nearly as many sales if he charged that much...

Thank you all for your advice. I will defintly texture each car, but i like to model everything first. I am also creating some planes and helicopters. My little bro has started a classic war model pack, so i have a lot of things going on at once. Once i am out of school in may things will really start to move.

thats cool, its like a mech.
I have to say anyone can make a car. The real skill is controling the number of polys and of course how long it takes to make it. It took me a while to get use to making low poly cars. I first started making cars with 20,000+ polys but they weren't for games. Now it takes me about an hour to make a car

I sketched a car, still interested in creating a model for me? I have a side, front and back view. It's a fantasy 'manga-like/cartoon 'sportscar. I don't have a scanner so i cant show anything. I will scan it later this week and place it on my website.

Yeah, i wil still model a car for you. When you get the sketches scanned email them to [email protected].
I cannot promise quick results for i am finishing school in the next 2 weeks and there are a lot of deadlines.

If anyone is interested my senior design project website is at:
http://coewww.rutgers.edu/dms/group08/
that project will pretty much ruin most of my free time for a little while.

now if i only had a job

those cars are amazing you should consider making a tutorial on how to make one in a scene like yours.

I would have no problem making a tutorial when I have more available time. The scenes are created in lightwave just using a simple 4 light setup. three spotlights at 50-60% intensity setup two in front and one as a fill light, and a distance light set at a low intensity, i think around 30%.

here is a bmw x5. its much higher poly then the other cars.
2552 total, mainly due to the wheels which are 480 polys.
