Anyone know if it is possible to make an object look as if it is emitting light?

I'm trying to create a 'firefly' effect and placing a light inside an object lights up nearby objects, but not the object the light is inside.

Am I trying to do the impossible?

mmmh you could add a flat plane with a light effect behind it but i still think the set object command would work best just set the affected by light flag to 0

Yeah do the light thing AND have a ghosted plain object always pointing at the camera, always on the firefly object with a flare or gradient light texture on it. Not very bright texture, just a little and it will give it a nice healthy glow.
