TGC IRC CHATROOM



Hello, i (and several other great people) run the TGC irc channel. Now i am aware that this isnt a big part of the community, but i wish to change that. Having people on hand all the time is quite useful, usually there are people who are great at helping at modeling or texturing or you name it. For those who dont know what irc is, it is basically a chat room, where you can come and chat to other fellow community members and sometimes TGC staff pop in. For those of you with java installed, its as easy as clicking a link.

You can also connect using mIRC or whatever irc client you have lying around (trillian can do it i think).
The details you will need to know are:

NETWORK: irc.foreverchat.net
CHANNEL: #darkbasic

we have trivia
we almost always have someone around who isn't idle.
we talk about most things computer related, expecially #darkbasic
if you have even the most embarrasing of coding problems, we'll help.
if you have the most challenging of coding problems, we'll still help.

you have no reason to use these forums but not use the IRC room.

Edit: when my website is up it will have a massive section devoted to developers, even bigger than TGC's website (heheh) and special privileges will go out to IRC users.

We are also working on improving things in the chatroom, since functionality is limited, but we hope soon to be able to develop some kind of code/tutorial base similar to what is here .

More stuff for IRC


I have just added some good features in the irc room. There is a message board and there is a FAQ section. Everybody is welcome to post on the message board(although it will get cleaned at the end of the day) and you can come on and search for FAQs. It will take a while to build a steady database of FAQs, but if you come up with a good one, ask an op and they will put it in for you. Hopefully this will increase the amount of information one can get from visting the irc room. If you need details on how to use any of these features then ask me or any other op.

Sorry, too many bad memories. Not from this channel but from others several years ago, I wasted days on end just sitting in IRC channels reading every line that was said. Got no work done at all. I'm up for the occasional trivia every now and then but I'll never be a regular.

Now, there are always people talking in there. It gets quite busy at around midnight-3am when the best of East and West meet. It is a great channel.

Nice channel you have there - I was afk for ages and I got disconnected (usual flakey IRC connection I have) but I'll frequent the channel as often as I can.

I personally don't have a lot of scripting expertise - I know a few people that do though.

I got this server problem yesterday too but then it just worked - almost straight away after - just a blip methinks.
