Hey all;

I’m an engineering student, the other day (during a field trip) I had this idea for pc cooling,How about immersing the whole thing into a non conductive liquid? And then cooling it of with some sort of radiator . Later the same day, after I got home, I started doing some research on the subject; found out that this had already been done for quite some time (…I felt dumb…),

Take a look at these extreme experiments:

Flourinert info:
edit, hold on a sec, ok give up... Let me just say it's really expensive...

Anyway this would be way too expensive for me. How about oil?

Now that was an interesting thread…

I’m starting a small experiment this afternoon (within a few hours), just to check if the vegetal oil(low viscosity) I’m planning on using will work (by immersing a binary counter in it).
If it all works out as planned I’ll start designing an oil cooling system...

Wow. Now that's what I call innovative. I love the commentary when the liquid nitrogen starts to be poured into the case...

So is HFE-7100. I saw schematics that required 4 gallens - about £600 worth.

Gotta love this gem:

Interesting link though! Thanks for sharing. I wonder how the fans can spin in that heavy liquid...

Yeah, that's why i'm trying oil...

but this means I need a lager volume of liquid flowing into the "case", good thing is that I found some nice underwater pumps (aquarium pumps) that will work with oil...
