I just recently did some tree work and found that the best method is probably just making a low poly mesh and putting some leaves and stuff on the top, and mapping a leaves texture where the leaves should be, then using the black transparency option to make them look like mesh. This is good for framerate, and pretty effective graphically, sort of like the ones on the Giles page: http://giles.thegamecreators.com/

Wow. Thankyou. This method will certainly be in the game and my first tree of this sort is in the making right now.

This game is on hold for a bit while I do some work on a team request. But remember, it will be back! I'll be using what I learn on this team to make my game. I still open it every day and find myself adding something. If anyone would like to have more updates on what Im doing, just ask. I've been working on this game for well over a year now, so it will get finished.
