wow, your good.
I've emailed you a wee pic of the map I drew. I didn't have the courage to post it here.
I only have Microsoft Paint, but I'm looking into getting a new Art package to put some life into this map.

I was planning to have the map as my opening sceen, then the character could move to each of the squares and each square would be a minigame. The purple squares will allow the player to gain points or skills or something, to defeat the bad guys in the big Red Square game.
Let me know your ideas,
Thanx
Rose

its actually not a bad set of characters for the genre.

You can easily identify the intended human roles.

The anthropomorphism is pretty good and even tho u may
lose a facial expression indicator without eyebrows or ears
you can make up for it in tail position.

The faces are ok I think the large eyes help a lot to draw a child into the character.

I'm sleeping! It's after 3am and I have a lecture that I have to go to at 9am. I also have my design document due 2morrow!!
I've only done 6 pages and it's so crap! I wanna go to bed!!! sob, sob!

We really need a chat room here so I can come in late at night and chat! It would totally cheer me up!

I made this just then, it might help next time when creating
a character, since your the modeller and the illustrator in this sense u can get away I guess with a less detailed illustration.

I use a lumograph or a lumachrom depending on what brand
and country I guess.

You may have seen them used in some disney docs and animation technique movies.

Its great when u need to isolate the final outline in pencil
or ink.
Basically the lumo can be isolated away leaving the final ink or lead outline

I havent outlined these tho and I greyscaled the lumo version so u could see a possible layout for a first draft.

Its almost as if tech drawing meets cartooning ,
but it helps to identify the character in all angles.

this is the kind of illustration that was required
when constructing a new character at the early stages
before u decide on his style of movement.

Ideas only not gospel

hehee... i was bored outta my skull almost literally, so isn't like anything particularly good.
I really need to get myself a .05 pencil cause the .07 is just a lil too large for me but keep forgetting whenever i goto the shop

I think the map idea is a pretty good and simple one, leaning towards a Mario3 style ... where you have like 3 little dots to a Purple Square, which your just going about not doing much but trying to collect something - then a main world where you can like move the story on with a task or big bad guy perhaps

Right now goin' for the indiana jone theme cause we had something on the desk about it, if this isn't right then just lemme know what kinda style you'd like and i'll be sure resketch like that (^_^)

Oh and the female one only came about because max said he looked gay in the pose he was in so i rubbed out his flat chest added them and gave some eyelashes

Which is a point, lemme know what gender you'd like the character - gonna sketch some more in a sec cause i'm not really that happy with what is done for actual gaming terms, so i need to put more than half my ass into the work this time ... see about the map too. Pretty cool thou

Ohh and lemme know what kinda look you'd like for the levels i'll sketch some area's for ya perhaps a good overview hehee have to see what you'd like in the actual game what kinda gameplay

You could create a very cool coloured scale pattern for each race and sex depending on a variable like mood or score or something.

good genre, lizards and action hero type components would work with kids.

The tail and tongue could be used as features in game.

Iam not being a stick in the mud, but you are openly giving full credits for the people that are handing over hand drawings, 3d models and level design, right? Not just sticking in the piccys and handing the work in I hope

lol ... i kinda like the bear, so i might give him a whirl when i make the chemeleon

i've done some more sketches that i need to really clean up before i show plus a turn around of her (figured i'd go with a female character)
Also made kinda like a bad guy, that looks a lil funny have to upload that in a lil.

just a bit of fun first thou - i was up all nite on yahoo! again and they've got a new IMV called doodle, kinda like a flash version of paint whilst you talk. Well i drew this, which at 56k and no skills wasn't easi hehee

it was made to comfort a friend but i think it might make a cool sig
