It was coded by Rich in PHP (that's a scripting language). I believed he did use a commercial PHP editor, however not the DreamWeaver WYSIWYG type thing.

i would have done this site in notepad/wordpad but rich's buget may be a bit larger than mine so he may have some sort of program ide type thing to make it quicker and easier, i did all my site in notepad (except the forum cause i'm too lazy and don't have enought time to write a forum, i can't take full credit for te clock either, javascript is the next language on my list to be learnt)

I use Homesite 5 to build the content pages, Photoshop for all graphics and Zend Studio 3 for all the PHP code. If you don't even know what PHP is, don't bother looking at Zend Studio.

I did just buy myself the latest version of TopStyle too, but haven't used it much yet.

The tool I use is so flexible it can do anything. PHP, CSS, HTML, Flash, Picture editing.. you name it - it's all there inside a neat and tidy interface.

If you need a simple and easy to maintain design you can borrow mine at http://www.fire-on-the-suns.com. It also uses PayPal buttons so that you can handle credit cards with a minimum of fuss. And, the front page has some javascript code for loading a random image from a list of file names.

The site uses tables, so XGAMER shouldn't even bother looking. (Aside from the fact that tables support multiple browsers, allow for variable screen sizes, and are easy to use with notepad.) For a simple site it does what I need it to do.

Actually, tables are what virtually all of the websites out there use. The people that do pixel positioning with layers are CSS things that *most* people don't use.

I know isnt it a great all around editor? I have messed with so many diffrent programs and file types with that program, heck you can even modify dba files (just not compile them).

notepad is amazing, uet wordpadcan be useful (cos it can handle the returns in some file types) look at my site, i made it with notepad and paint

meh there is a warning on the front page, or atleast there shud b, i havent finished it yet, i dont have time, im doing first year of GCSEs and m dads website is a priority. i will finsih it sum time

EDIT: im slowly making a few templates as well, so far they suck

Isn't it just the bomb? Don't get me wrong, the lack of visible whitespace pisses me off no end, but the silky code completion and analyze code are a god send Oh and the "execute" button, writing regexps was never so easy

thanks you all i did finally use word pad and paint for my site and i have to say it looks pretty good so far. I havent up dated it yet im still working on the new template for it. I gave into the dark side and used templates they are almost more of a pain than a help. they are so #$%#$% sensitive. does anyone know what they used for the used to create the cool image at the top right of the page the one across from the Dark Basic title on the black background?

Every page you see is an HTML file sucked into the PHP template. I don't use dynamic content because the majority of it never changes, it's all HTML and not sucked from SQL (why bother when there is no need?!). The DBPro site has 51 pages for example, plus all the other sites. There are quite a few when you add them all together!

Approx. 500 of those images were the Retro Compo screen shots (which aren't in the Showcase).

The rest is all SQL space really

As for how much it costs to host the server, it's really quite reasonable. Check out Pair Networks Dedicated Server pages (www.quickserve.com I believe). We use them for our web server/sql server and a different host (cheaper bandwidth!) for our File Server.

Woah, I think we have the equivalent of that over here. It's called 'Young Achievement Australia' and you basically just get a group of students and make a company that produces, markets and sells a product. Each student company is sponsored by a real company (where weekly meetings are held) and you need to generate your initial investment by selling shares. Is it the same sort of thing or completely different?

I was a part of it last year, our company scouted some local bands and put together a compilation CD of around 16 tracks. Was quite fun and it's just one more thing to stick on your Resume/CV.
