Someone showed this to me this morning, its a riddle Einstein produced. Kept me thinking for a long time. If you're feeling smart, have a go:

I remember getting this in class once, and the teacher told us that only the top 5% of the population could figure it out. I got it in about 15 minutes ^_^

I gave up when I realised the phrase 'The green house is to the left of the white house' actually means the green house is DIRECTLY to the left of the white house. I took it as being somewhere to left of White house, thus making puzzle almost impossible to solve.

I used to make these puzzles for a magazine. I had a couple printed. I think I got paid £30 per puzzle printed. They were the same as the Einstein one but on grids. Actually, I can probably take a screen shot of some of my puzzles, because I made a VB program to generate them. I'll see if I can put them up.

Yeah...here is one that I invented myself! See if you can guess the answer. This one isn't the same as the Einstein one, this concept was my own idea.

Yay!!!! I got it!!!! Took me a few hours whilst watching tv, but good ol' pen and paper got me there! wow im dead chuffed

Edit: That is the einstein puzzle i got, not Pincho's

I had the einstien one in high school english... i got it in about 35 minutes

pincho: Yours is a royal pain in the ass and i give up... I was leaning toward "H" but I belive I am off

I got it in about 20 minutes using a pen and paper ( and confirmed the answer with that that is above ).

Btw, to those that thought they'd given the answer away... You didn't... I really didn't have a clue what you were talking about untill I read over your posts once I'd figured it out, so don't worry :p

Yeah it doesn't take long to find a fault so that you can move on to the next letter. 'O' has a fault half way down.

Anyone confused?....
The puzzle works in rows and columns on the very first square. It tells you how many numbers down, and accross have to match numbers in the Alphabetical list on the right. The first numbers in each row, and column are the amount of numbers that should match the alphabetical list.

Except I check the columns first, so after finding matches in all 5 columns (for both O and Y), I go onto the rows only to find the third last is wrong.

If you can't get the original puzzle, you're probably ignoring the negatives. It's solved by a process of elimination, work out who doesn't fit each house/pet etc, and you will work out who does.

Aye, that's how they all should be done . I had a bloody book full of those-- but way easier, with only three to four variables to solve instead of five, and generally more clues. I'm pretty good at them but I hate solving them-- just bores the crap out of me.

I think I'm gonna write an app to solve these real quick so I won't have to in the future ... just input names for each variable, feed it what is and isn't (clues), and have it run through all the posibilities until one matches. It could also be used to spot faulty puzzles (more than 2 answers) ...

Doctors havent a clue what are the causes of aneurysms are, But I think I have a theory...

People come acrossed a god forsaken puzzle like the one pincho has presented. They sit there looking at it, saying to themsleves "wtf?!?". And then, having an actual life, they move on to do better things.

But they can't stop thinking about it, and through out the day all they can think is, "Puzzle, Puzzle, 2, 5, 48, 10...". Finally they're sitting on the toliet still thinking about the puzzle when *BOOM* a painful aneurysm hits them.

And as they drift slowly towards the light with drool coming from thier mouths, all they can think is "its, its 'O'!"

Pincho kindly tells them its not 'O' and to try again.

they have a heart attack and a stroke at that moment.

Ive got a stranger one (ye might know it)

3 Guests arive at a beautiful hotel. They ask the manager "how much does 1 room cost?". The manager says "30 euro/dollar".
They pay 10 euro/dollar each and go the their room. (10 x 3 = 30 euro/dollar)

The manager goes into the backroom and discovers the price was 25 euro/dollar. He orders the liftboy to give them their 5 euro/dollar back.

When the liftboy approaches the room he thinks "I have to give 1.33 euro/dollar to each person, but I have no coins left. Ye know, I'll put 2 euro/dollar in my pocket and give them 1 euro/dollar each"

They get 1 euro/dollar back, so they paid 9 euro/dollar instead of 10.

9 euro/dollar X 3 persons = 27 euro/dollar
2 euro/dollar that the liftboy has = 2 euro/dollar

together its 29 euro/dollar, where's the other one?



Or a more difficult version

2 guests arrive at a hotel, the room costs $20. When they go to their room the manager discovers the room was only $15.
He asks the liftboy to bring the $5 back.
When the liftboy approaches the door he thinks "I have to give $2.50 back, but I have no coins, ye know, I'll put $3 in my pocket and give them their $2 back"

"zo gezegd zo gedaan" in dutch

2 persons x $10 - $1 = $18
$3 the liftboy has = $3

$18+$3 = $21

This is just a trick question, you're basically adding instead of subtracting, there is no missing dollar. Essentially you're all putting in 9 dollars each (27), the liftboy takes 2 dollars, so it's 27 - 2 = 25 (the amount the hotel took).

This one's exactly the same as the above. You're actually supposed to do $18 - $3 = $15. The price of the room.

It's just a trick by doing the incorrect Math for you.

You know Z, you are actually supposed to work out the answer yourself not check "about 15 websites" to find it Moron. I mean come on really how far did you get? that the second house was blue then gave up?
