It's got both a link to LithUnwrap, and a link to a tutorial on how to use it.
The basics of UV mapping, is you "Unwrap the model" from 3D to 2D. What you do it pull all the model out flat.
Imageine a Can ( With no top or bottom ). The model is basically a cylinder, right? Well, the UV map would be the same as you getting a knife and cutting down the length of the can on one side, and laying it flat open.
That's basically all it is, and once you've dont that, you just paint on your texture using whatever program ( Paint, Photoshop etc ).
