no not really. just learn db, trust me. its not worth $35 to create something completely unoriginal in under 2 minutes... but it is worth $50 or $90 to make something unique and original...

Ofcourse you could wait until FPS Maker is out but that could be a while.

yeah, i can't wait for FPS creator. it has an ai scripting language, ragdoll physics, map editor, the whole works and you hardly have to touch any coding at all.

personnally (please excuse my spelling) I like coding and not using an aplication to make games. When I code a game, it gives me more of a sense that I really acomplished something. But that is just my opinion...

I personally like such programs, but wouldn't use them for anything i would share with people other then my friends. I've already payed my $90 dollars, $5 dollars shipping and handling for something unique and original... still in "packed for shiping" status. i'm impatient, lol.

oh, in one of the SS for the 3d gamemaker, there was a battle mech... well, you probably thought that sucked, and as soon as photobucket.com isn't being stupid i'll give you an image. until then it will have to be a link

http://mods.terranova-exp.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=174

was meant for a mod in BHD, but then i got into darkbasic, lol

My advise, go with darkbasic and get yourself a good modellor

yeah, in a news article they were talkin about how they prog'd enemy ai to notice a pickup nearby with a weapon more powerful than the player's. so, as it ran towards the player, it was caught off guard noticing the pickup and immediately ran to the pickup and beat the player's ass.

then they have this segment editor thing, which is gonna rule all. the software comes with 1000's of "segment" models, (walls, doors, etc). they said you can combine premade ones to make your own segments. so, you could take a wall segment, put a door on it, and cover the walls with moss, and save it as a new segment ready to go for new projects.

then, you just go into the map/level editor, load the segments and place them. all the collisions done for you.

also, theres gonna be ragdoll physics! which means if you shoot em in the head they die, if you shoot em in the stomach they grab their stomach, or if you throw a grenade at them or shoot a shotgun, they'll go flying backwards on impact.

if you thought this was gonna be another 3dgm, i think you may be wrong... i cant wait!

OOOOOOOOOOO!!!!SOUNDS SWEET. I love ragdoll physics. And programing collisions pisses my right off. hmmm, well no, it doesnt sound like just some other 3d level editor, which is what I thought it would be...

for us people that have been using DarkBASIC (original) since it first came out, and then upgraded to DBP (as soon as it came out), i hope that they make some of the same features available to us!

even if they charged a little for it, i would prolly buy it for the physics, ai, and better collision

i think they were talking about that, like if you own dbp, you have more control over games you make with fps creator. but, they said it won't be compatible with dbc. so yeah, if you own dbp you will probly see some exclusive dbp user features in there.
