Everyone said it was good, so I bought the Triple box set for £33. I fell asleep during episode 1. I fell asleep during Episode 2. Episode 3 was the best with a massive 2 stars out of 5. It's my worst movie because I spent the most on it, and I'll probably never watch it again.

Pincho, thats a pretty sad commentary of yourself, not the lotr trilogy. Try reading it sometime when you're older/smarter - you'll be enlightened.

I bet you like star wars/empire/jedi trilogy right? Well, go have a read of tolkien's classic and then go watch the star wars trilogy again - see any similarities?

Memento - Totally agree. Best film I've seen for years. Have you seen the hidden DVD version? It plays the movie *normally*. Nowhere near the same, but neat extra
Fight Club - Only Memento took this off my "Best film in 5 years" slot
City of God - Haven't seen it...
The Usual Suspects - I know everyone loved this, but I just thought it was very good. Just didn't grab me the same I suppose
Donnie Darko - Dunno why, just thought it wasn't very good. Felt the same to me as the Rama books. ie. you felt at the end that it was good and clever, then when I thought about it I disagreed with myself. Just thought the writers thought they were really clever and set out to show it. Just didn't "sit" with me
The Matrix - Of course. See above....
Adaptation - Hah! Yes, someone who likes this one! Can't decide if I preferred Being John M though. But it was hellishly good in a subtle way. Did you look up information about his "brother" though? Actually exists on imdb, and is the only fictional character to be nominated for an Oscar (or something like that). It's even a bit vague about whether his "brothers" film is going to be his real next film. Strange stuff. And look up the website for Glen Close's character. Not only is it a bit trippy, but does she actually exist??? Confusing. Am betting it was setup by the film people myself... clever though... really subtle, as you may not have checked on the web (I did cos I was bored)
Requiem for a Dream - Haven't seen....
American Beuaty - Yeah, was pretty good, just creeped me out a little...

Right, my favourite film is Aliens. Ahem, and it used to be Manequin. Used to love Kim Catrell as a kid me....

Worst film is difficult, but since I just saw it a couple of weeks ago I would have to say Starship Troopers 2. Oh god what a load of rubbish. Even the music is terrible.

Hmmm, that leads me to a good question:-

What is the worst sequel to a great movie? ie. the two movies with the greatest difference in quality between them?

For me Starship troopers 1 + 2 has to win it, as the first one was tops. Matrix and reloaded comes close, as does reloaded and revolutions. If revolutions came directly after The Matrix then it would give Starship Troopers 1 + 2 a run for it's money IMO.

I actually thought that Reloaded was the best and also my favourite film. The third one was awful and had to much machine fighting in it. In order i think the matrix films in my preference should go 2,1,3.

Anyway just my 2 cents,

A good movie: Kill Bill Vol2
I don't know what it is about the kill Bill movies, normally I would pass it off as stupid, but there is this certain charm that makes it good to watch.

A REALLY BAD movie: A Day Without a Mexican (This is absolutly the worst film I have ever paid to watch.)

luckily I stopped having to pay for movies as my wife scored a lifetime free membership to NetFlix (frigging sweet). The last movie I paid to see was AI (Absolute Idiocy)

I've tried to read LOTR twice but I get totally bored by it. I thought the action must be during the second part, but there wasn't any there either. So I thought the third movie must be packed with action, but still hardly any. 9 hours of talking, and well, the action is very basic war stuff. The people fighting each other are all unknowns mainly, so you don't feel for them. The only true fight scene is Sam against the spider. Sam is a good character so you feel for him. There is no other real action. I do like the Hobbit though. The Hobbit is my favourite book of all time. It has lots of action, and true characterization.

I don't understand--- somebody disagrees with the "norm" and gets flamed. I happen to agree with Pincho. I saw the 3 movies and while they have good action, the story is just boring. That's right, boring. What is it with those fantasy movies, always using magic to get out of a tough situation.

I watched about 1 hour of the first LOTR and havnt watched another since. I wasnt overly interested in it. I may watch them at some point in my life but not right now.

I'm not that keen on the Third Matrix, but I would watch it again. I was dissapointed by the final fight, but I thought that Smith's acting was good. The music was not as synchronised to the action as in Reloaded.

hm, i actually thought willow was more attractive than buffy (well, what i saw in the ads, the only buffy i've ever seen was the movie).

anyways:
the worst sequel i've ever seen was texas chainsaw massacre 2, the first was absolutely brilliant and terrifying, the second sucked more than an industrial shop vac.

I think people say Reloaded and LOTR are the worst because they actually expected them to be incredibly good but didn't live up to the hype.

In reality, there are a lot worse movies that are just pure crap, 'The Hole' being one of them.

ah I guess I missed the publicity of it. I don't remember ever seeing any adverts for it and I just heard about it by word of mouth long after it was out of the movies.

Its awesome though. I got my brother the DVD for his birthday and there is a special code you can enter on it to watch the movie forwards. Have yet to test that though, so I don't know if its true or not.

Reloaded and Revolutions were really bad because The Matrix was a definitive movie. There isn't much else that comes close. Fantastic stuff. Reloaded and Revolutions were ok, and pretty much good movies in their own right, just not in the same league as the first one. Think Superman 4, or Star Wars 1 & 2.

Oh, and another contender for complete cock up of sequel is Dumb and Dumber. First one was one of the best comedies in years, sequel is a pile of stinking crap. And it's not because Carey isn't in it. Just watch it, it's rubbish.

Ang on, someone said Top secret. Top film that one. Aha, Airplane 1 & 2 were both some of the best comedy ever. Fantastic sequel.

lol. It says a lot about person when the person tells you that the worst movie is either Matrix : ReWhatever or LOTR or something like that. Even if you don't like em, they are nowhere near the worst movie section.
LOTR, for example, would be well above most movies just with it's visual quality alone.

but here are some that I like:
(not in order of any sort)

Memento - me too!
Requiem for a Dream - shockingly good.
The City of Lost Children (?) - Man, those visuals rocked.
Gattaca - just saw it

Solaris (2002?) - the musics were good

I did not, however, like Donnie Darko at all.

Well I did say that it was the worst because I spent the most on it. I never bought many other bad movies. I bought Hulk but it was only £11. That has fairly good visuals, but people still hate it. I bought Bridget Jones Diary too. I just get annoyed at trusting a review, and buying a crappy DVD. I mean, do I really have to watch something before I buy it?

Just my tuppence thought, the LOTR films aren't as good as the books. The books seem cliched, until you realise that the reason they seem so cliched is that most fantasy things since have been inspired by them. Funny how before the films, most people weren't raving about the books, now after the films everyone's going "read the books" - I read them when I was 14, about 8 years ago now

My favourite film is possibly Pulp Fiction, or the Exorcist. I love loads of cheesey american teen trash too, maybe for the eye-candy.

The first American Pie amused me, as Did Austin powers, although they are hardly GREAT films. Perhaps the best comedy film I've seen is the South Park Movie, there's so much there that most people don't pick up on, it really impressed me.

Worst Film? Umm well I've been very dissapointed with many films I've seenm usually ones which have been over-hyped, but that doesn't make them the WORST, just worse than I expected.

Sometimes though I expect a film to be awful, and actually enjoy it: Love Actually for example, had all the potential qualities of a film I would hate, but I actually found it complex, involving and semi moving, if cheesey in parts.

Another film I watched recently which I thought would be horrendous was Football Factory. Actually it amused me, and I respected the fact that it was non-judgemental, without endorsing violence. Of course there was bad child acting...

Speaking of bad child acting, I guess the worst films I own would be some of the recent Mary-Kate and Ashley drivel. Awful scripts, aweful direction, awful acting. And yet, I always rescue them out of bargain bins, as once they hit 16, those girls got HOT lmao

i read the books(lotr) 3 times before i even heard of the movies

Try again after about a decade. Thats what I did, and it's not too bad. Just hard to keep remembering the human names cos they keep dying every chapter (tis over many many years).

Interesting what it says about Gandalf though.
