Your first game is a MMORPG, ANOTHER ONE!!! Ok, one start on frogger first, then you can make your own stuff. This doesn't apply to you if DB isn't your first language.

Maybe because they think that you won't be able to create a mmorpg fantasy kinda game because it's a hellofalot of work.

Anyway, for world building you could try DeleD (http://www.delgine.com), JTEdit or any other modelling package. See the sticky thread on top!

Use the free 3D modeller DeleD to get skilled in 3d editing! Visit http://www.delgine.com for more info.

yeah here's a hint: MMORPG's are a pain in the left nut that are too hard for the non-prepared begginer 1 person begginer team.

[following opinion not endorsed by TGC or any of its crew]

You know I really am getting sick of people saying "Wad the fark?Wad kind of website forum is this?" or somthing to that liking after somebody just gave them perfectly advice on what to do.

The fact that you can disrespect somebody after they help you even slightly is sickening.

[end]

anyway, take that to mind please

If I were you, I would start on a 2d game. It is much easier. And then move onto and online game in 3d. Thats what I did and it's much easier. Infact, start with 2d, then 3d, and then text-based online, then 2d or 3d online. Dont rush it, programming takes time and practice makes perfect...

When it comes to programing, I'm on fire!

I believe there is a procedure for this. May I direct you here...

http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=28077&b=9

Read it all? If not then do.

The fact is, I couldn't create a MMORPG, and I've had over 2 years experience in coding DB, and I'm sure many other much more veteran people would think "No Way!" if you suggested they make a MMORPG.

Go away and learn something about programming, then come back and decide if you really want to do this...

On another note to everyone, I'm glad this thread hasn't turned into a flamebait, and lets not let it go that way either, thank you very much!

Anyway...

The best kind of game to start with, if you never programmed before, is pong, no questions asked. My first game was pong, about 4 years ago, and now I am near completion of my RTS game that I will be sending off to publishers. By the way, it is not online. Please don't try to make your first game online. Starting with 3D is okay, but not online. Make a FPS first, or an adventure game, those are fun and great to learn with.

What kinds of worlds are you looking to make? Interior, exterior, space??? There are matrix modeling programs like Magic World and, dang I can't think of them right now. You can use any 3D modeling package such as Milkshape or JTEdit to create internal worlds and buildings. However, programming is what puts it all together. Get started on basic, ha ha, programming first. It all goes from there...

Your new here so ...
tip #1: Don't listen to Manticore, he's a moron.
tip #2: Don't ask for help on making your new game in the 3D Forum, this is for *3D RELATED* stuff only. I'm getting a little cheesed off recently that every tom, dick 'n' harry seem to believe that it is for asking for help.

There is a Newbie Forum and a Team Forum, USE THEM!

tip #3: Rather then sitting there whining about what little help your getting, ask us why your not getting help. But as I said this isn't the place for it, now off to the newbie forum with you.

10 days since he's replied. Seems he's given up on programming . Either that or gone on holiday, if so my mistake.

Raven - I used the 3D forums when I first came here for something I shouldn't have. It occured to me that since I was trying to do some programming in 3D it was the place to post. Although I realised when I browsed the forums some more, so I didn't do it again.

Perhaps, but I constantly see important posts replaced by stupid nonsense posts around here.

And i'm getting sick and tired of it; Hell even most of the regular users are finally saying this place is going to pot.
I wish I were a moderator, there is so much crap i'd remove.

Flamewars, Stupid Posts, Lame Posts, Posts about Cats, Previews of Games not done, Post about doing something then not listening, Posts about other Posts that have been locked...

Jesus christ it's like these people HAVE to post about any old crap that is currently going on in thier pathetic little lives.
Hell there are posts about posts about posts about some game that isn't even released.

Is it REALLY that hard for people to have one topic?
Is it REALLY that hard to use the edit button?
Is it REALLY that hard for some of those so-called, experienced programmers to sit around and just bitch at everything then pottle off to LLRGT?

Hell something needs to be done, it needed to be done around 18months back. New forums soon aparently, but who knows what that'll actually help.

I'd say frogger, that's the first thing I made.

No offence, but raven, I'm glad you aren't a mod.
