Im working in max 5, and the only .x exporter I could find that claims to export vertex alpha is for max 6. Ive alos been unable to find a .3ds to .x convertor that maintains vertex alpha (conv3ds is really the only one I could find period).

So if anyone knows of a way to maintain vertex alpha please let me know. Thanks

Arggg heh panda only works in max 6. The pre max 6 versions dont support alpha... Unless im doing something wrong that is. Have you ever gotten max5 to export a fully featured .x model?

I use 5 and panda. Supports everything an X file does as far as I can see.

have you ever tryed exporting a model with colored verts? what about alpha faded verts? Perhaps im just doing something wrong in max... Can you walk me through the steps you took in order to get your model working in dbpro? I also have max 5 and panda and have yet to get it to work.

I just took a look at it. By default, saving vertex colors is selected. I just sorta assumed that includes alpha as well. It might, and DB just might not support it.

ya. panda for max 5 supports vertex colors/alpha. Look at roswell racer, I used max 5 for that. Maybe your problem is the fact that DBP doesnt load vertex colors?

Ah ok perhaps thats where things are going wrong then frogger. Whats the correct method for getting a .x into dbpro? Ive heard vert color/alpha is lost when its converted to dbo, but how else can you load it in if not via the standard method?

Really? I heard you had to load meshes, then make objects from them if you wanted vert colors/alpha. Ok well that means im doing something wrong in max... I just cant get a basic cube to show up with even colored verts, let alone alpha faded verts...
