The next windows operating system is indeed codenamed "Longhorn" and is pact full of "new" features.

At the following site their is supposedly (it's the official site, but I can't find it)a longhorn SDK so programmers can get an advance look on what is coming in the next operating system.
http://longhorn.msdn.microsoft.com/

Please post any comments or what you would like to see in the next operating system in this forum.

pure backdoors, new bugs and spywarezzz, very nice

nah really, why do they always improve the GUI instead of optimizing the os. I mean:

From Microsoft-watch.com

Microsoft is expected to recommend that the "average" Longhorn PC feature a dual-core CPU running at 4 to 6GHz; a minimum of 2 gigs of RAM; up to a terabyte of storage; a 1 Gbit, built-in, Ethernet-wired port and an 802.11g wireless link; and a graphics processor that runs three times faster than those on the market today.

6ghz processor and 2 gigs of ram for solitaire / wordpad and internet explorer. anyone see something wrong with that ?

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

I guess they are thinking by the time that londhorn is released, those hardware specs will be affordable, and are building longhorn to meet the high preformance...

but, I don't think youll need those specs to actually run it; its probrably much lower.

The fancy bits will be adjustable. Theres quite a bit of detail about this out there.
Originally it was slated to a 2006 release, however, the Windows XP SP2 is seriously delaying Longhorn development.

And where have you been for the last few years?
