Well I think you should include the magic flying carpet, and the Indian rope trick. At this point, an escape sounds on the ajenda. So you are escaping from someone. Into the mountains. Maybe you have stolen something magical. The usual.

This Indian boy finds a ruby-like gem one morning. After harvesting the corn for the festival, he goes to sleep. But the next day, as his family heads for the festival, a giant beast destroys the greater part of town, and leaves the boy to escape on a hang glider (jumps off of a cliff and glides) to another town, where he is equipped with Power Gems (paying ells, or currency, for the first, the Strength Gem), to fight the beasts and other monsters back where they came from. But it seems that you shouldn't have found the gems after all...
I'll add more and better details later, but do you like the idea?

Ok, well you could go for the....

''My father was killed by an ancient curse and I'm next unless I find the twat who cursed us.''

or

''Girlfriend kidnapped by evil marijuana farmer, rescue her and destroy him.''.

or

''Villagers acting weird in nearby town, some strange black magic and it's spreading, find out what's is going on and prevent it.''

or

''Children disapearing from the village without a trace, could be sacrificed to appese a god or something, but either way find out why (maybe their enslaved in a dodgy blokes toothpaste mine like in Indiana Jones).''

or

''Elephant graves being robbed for ivory and you have to find out who's at it.''

Sidekik, people thought that technology would never surpass radio. And look what happened! A DarkBASIC RPG is going to happen someday, inevitably!

A Darkbasic RPG will be released at the convention - I know because my 8 year old son and 12 year old brother are designing it. It is a zelda/pokemon style thing though - I'm guessing HomieG is more into a Shenmue style game - in which case he could do worse than contact Yusaku if he's still around.

I don't get it.

Damn, I wish my brother were more interested in stuff like this. He just like basketball and stuff. Then VanB boasts that he's got pre-teens interested in game design.

Regarding games that have to do with someone's native homeland, anyone here played Anito?

Hehe, Yusaku is an oldbie who wrote Shenmue Zero in DBC last year - He loves RPG's and might be able to help with a good plot for a similar game.

There is a DB RPG. The Magic Land!

Anyhow, a lot of us could make an RPG if we wanted. I could! But I have only played The Magic Land, so I don't have much experience with them.

Definitely a hell yeah, Yusaku is still around. He posted on the snippets board recently. Cool to know that he's still using Classic.

Equilibrium was also one of the first RPG demos for DB, IIRC.

People think game design is easy but it's actually pretty tough.
You have to create a concept that appeals to as much people as it can (you can't please everyone ofcourse) so RPG's are hard to tackle without making your design sound lame.

Any game with talking animals is fine by me.

Trying to get my sig up!

Actually, there should be lots of DB RPG's out there, ages ago there was an RPG creator thing made with DBC - can't remember it's name though - but it looked pretty comprehensive, even comes with sprite editors etc.

Wow guys, thanks for the responses . Iron Condor that idea sounds really good. My only problem is that, would these ideas be too hard to program, for an "intermediate" programmer? Thanks... I was considering just making a simple RPG with no real sotryline, you just walk around a town doing stuff

You want a tech demo for now. I understand. But the gems should be fairly easy. If you can make a player collect things, and maybe have an ell bank, it would be good.

Why Indian? Is it that important to stick to an Indian phenotype for the character? Why not have a choice between Indian or an other ethnicity?

Dude, you havent seen jack Indian food. Restaurants are pussy, they dont put any spice in. My moms cooking, now that HURTS.

About the game anyway, I like the iron Condor's idea. But i dont know if it would be too hard to program, what do you guys think? Im not a total noob at darkbasic, tho i have taken a break for a while, but id call myself intermediate.

Also, the reason I chose india is cuz obviosuly i am from india and i now a lot more stuff about india and i have access to a sh!tload of indian music so we dont need composers. Also i know how the streets and stuff look so the game would be more accurate.

Okay, I thought of another idea. Again, its a bit complicated, so I don't know if it would be too hard to code. So here goes (its not exactly in "storyline" format, just ideas)

So basically you're this 19-year old guy named (name goes here ), who just committed a serious crime, (crime goes here ). Now you are on the run. After taking a train to a city about 500 miles away, and disguising yourself, you select a small village as your hideout place.

I have a few more details, but i guess right after this is where the game starts, basically your're in the village. You have to somehow evade the cops and bribe people to mislead the cops...i havent thought about the rest... Sound too hard?
Thanks

You should make a Bollywood game. Maybe take a top Bollywood film, and use that to inspire your story. I'll bet that there is a huge market for Bollywood games.
