@the nerd

Sort out the website before you can expect people to download anything:

1. Do not use background graphics which are photos or anything more complex than a simple pattern - it obscures any text on top of it

2. Do not use blinking text, it is <evil>

3. Not not use scroll marquees.

Guyver money,
No problem.

@The Nerd & Money

The idea of this type of program is interesting and can be helpful to many, especially if you continue into more complex samples. Though I think it's good that you guys are starting off from the very beginning which most other tutorials ignore, or assume that the user already possesses said skills. Your tutorial is aimed to start with a complete newcomer, which is ok.

- It would help if you had someone to proof-read your text output.
- I think that you can spend a little more time making the program graphically pleasing, work on the text spacing and paragraph settings, correct spelling mistakes,
- If you can polish the interface a bit more, you might be able to ask permission form authors in the code snippets - and code-base to use their submissions in your application. Just make sure that you get permission first.
- Try printing the text in a larger font and use colors to seperate code, keywords, and supporting text. Just make sure to stick with the same theme throughout your application.

Keep up the good work!

The Nerd,

I didn't get a runtime error. Everything worked fine for me. The only thing that I may have done different from other is I extracted the program to the folder that i downloaded the installer to (on the desktop).

I would say that I was confused as to where your .exe was. There is no map folder. The .exe was in "newbie learning program". The installer also created a 'newbie program' folder and inside is a 'Newbie program' folder that only contains a gif. You should have the main .exe inside the first folder.

so it should be ...\newbie learning program\newbie learning program.exe

Me think me cn proove read ur thingz. Me da good at da spelings.

I'll post feedback after it's done downloading, which will be... 5...4...3....2....1. Ok it's done, trying now.

[EDIT]
Got a runtime error 10 .

@Zero Blitzt

I think you got the second line wrong. He wrote this:
After you have looked at the the program and have seeing the example you can make you OWN small program!

But I think it really is this:
After you have studied the program and the example, YOU CAN TOTALLY OWN IT!

Maybe it's one of those questions that no one will ever know the answer to.. Like, "WTF is your problem kid". Haven't been able to answer that one yet.

Oh yeah, on topic, how do you get this thing working? I get a runtime error 10, whatever that means, and I wasted valuable time downloading this (7 whole seconds!) and I think I deserve to get it working properly.

runtime error 10 is a DBclassic error "file does not exist", maybe you unzipped to somewhere unconventional, dunno, don`t care .

yeah, dude. the software really sucks. first of all, you can find all that stuff in the db help, and when u read that, it actually makes sense rather than yours. you really need to learn spelling and grammar.

P.S. If that "money" dude made that beginning picture, and made the setup, and made the site fire him immediately.

the nerd,
Please sort out the Run Time error, and then you will get some proper responses to your post.

Guyver Unit 1,
Please DO NOT burst out like that again. Although, I can see where you're coming from.

All,
Give them a break would you?
the nerd is obviously not good at english which he needs to learn better, but he can't pick it up overnight.
and Guyver, well, he seems very angry at something...

Jess.
