Do any of you guys know what the best program for making mechanical textures is? I don't want to spend 100s of dollars buying the best, but I want to know which one is best for its money.

I'm useing mycrosoft paint now (not working out to well) so I could use some advice on what to get.

Paint Shop Pro (anything above 5) or Photoshop work very well for all textures but they require monitary and time investment to purchase and learn. Paint Shop Pro is easier to learn and cheaper but Photoshop has better end products.

Personally, I feel that Paint Shop Pro 8 is a better product that Photoshop and is several hundred dollars less, but it depends on skill and taste.
